I think Kenny has a chance to apply for a 6th year based on being injured his first year at MSU when he red-shirted. But he won't be able to even apply for this for a couple of years so we won't know.

The NCAA will not grant him a sixth year, because he took one of his years of eligibility to sit out as a transfer. He will play one at MSU, one as a transfer, and two years playing at OHIO. If he had been injured for two of the years and forced to sit out, then they might listen.

It's not that cut & dry. He was dismissed from the team, which forced him to transfer. It's certainly worth an appeal.

Wasn't there a recent rule change (or at least consideration of a change) that Hardship Waivers for immediate eligibility would no longer be granted but a year added to the end of careers instead?

He redshirted as a freshmen, so NCAA won't give him an extra year when he has used a redshirt and a transfer year.

I've heard that while it wasn't expected that Kaminski would play this season, it was expected that he had a "good chance" at playing three at Ohio.

To put it simply, nothing with the NCAA is "cut and dry." Anything and everything could be expected from the NCAA..

I've seen crazier things happen.

It'll be cool having great 3-point shooters like Block and Kaminski who are tall enough to shoot over the vast majority of guards. That'll create a ton of matchup problems for defenses.

I think it would be fair to include Ryan Taylor in this "tall" shooter conversation.

Here are two recent cases of players who had a transfer year and still got a 6th year of eligibility.

It would be nice if the NCAA had some semblance of consistency regarding this.

Friday night result

http://www.lincolncourier.com/article/20150220/SPORTS/150...

Lincoln played well wire to wire and coach talked about how well his kids shoot the ball.

How a bout this from the opposing coach.
"The kids are playing hard, but they are so far behind fundamentally," Eisenhower coach Rodney Walker said. "There's only so much you can do when you're limited fundamentally. The effort is there. It's just the basketball IQ is not where it's supposed to be right now. That's going to take some time."

Followed by another gem by a true player's coach who gets the process
"It's just going to be a lot of up and down when you're trying to implement a system with guys who have never played X and O basketball," Walker said. "It's a process and I'm up to the challenge. It's going to take more than three months to teach these guys the game of basketball. Today was a great lesson."

I am excited about this kid. He is perfect for what Saul is trying to do. Perfect.

go to like a clutch free throw shooter. Pure concentration and repetitively practiced mechanics. 15-16 from the line. Dartis and him are gonna have epic wars to see who runs after practice. Was my favorite part of Groce practices. Who can concentrate and who wants it more.

Nice to see Ohio assts in the house for Lanphier game. Shout out from local tv if you watch the video http://www.channel1450.com/Lincoln-Survives-Double-Digit-...

After watching that video of Block and his team playing inspired ball: Is there any way we can recruit that homie (announcers words) in the black hat sitting in the stands? A couple of his buddies he is sitting with? Would make great additions to the Ozone!

Railers fall and lose conference on senior night. Got to get ready for tourney.

http://www.lincolncourier.com/article/20150228/SPORTS/150...

The Railers were just three of 18 (16.7 percent) and 11-for-36 from the field on the night. Glenwood shot 43.2 percent (16 of 37) overall and was 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from behind the arc.

Good thing they do not have a message board for fans to proclaim their feelings on eh?

Coach summed it up anyway “We played on the perimeter,” Alexander said. “We didn’t want to attack. We didn’t try to set up and kick to our shooters. We didn’t execute very well.” “When you let Ethan Hunt sit on the line and bury seven 3s on you, you’re in for a world of hurt,”

They lost their last 2 games going into sectionals on Tuesday. Interesting reading on a HS board http://www.illinoishighschoolsports.com/forum/showthread....

Borna - Fill us in Groce's practices and the FTs at the end. How was it structured, how did it work. Maybe something to steal and use in our gym.

Like Paul Patterson at Taylor every drill, every shooting sequence was a competition. Free throws, shooting drills, everything timed and competition was against themselves, a number or the other team (white vs green). The whole idea was that everything has winners and losers and the losers paid a price. Motivation without yelling and screaming. Teaching without bullying and intimidation. Results oriented lessons.

We did similar things at my high school. Was a great teaching tool for concentrating on what you had to do at the foul line. I fully believe we became a better FT shooting team every year because of it.
