Arkley dropped a note on twitter:

Ohio MBK: Recruiting never stops. Bobcats have Cali JUCO prospect Daviyon Draper on campus this weekend. Hearing it's been a good visit

Draper a 6-7 forward (Antelope) who has some perimeter skills. Thick enough to be a MAC 4, skilled enough to be a 3. Would help immediately

I believe he is a 2014 class JUCO.  This tweet seems to support that:

Daviyon Draper of Antelope Valley CC will be Elite 80 in Vegas. Most likely not a better 2014 JC prospect in the country

A quick google search showed short threads on him at the Wichita State and SMU boards.

We desperately need post depth this year and next. From what I have read, he seems like another taller guard (Setty, Harley etc) as opposed to a Campbell or Mo.
If we have enough of these outside focused big guys, I guess we don't need to worry as much about having a ton of "true" post depth down low.
It is crazy to think about our offense if we have multiple 6-7+ SF's who can shoot 3's. That'll be a high-scoring offense.

I believe Saul's teams at NDSU shot well

Orlando Magic center and former USC Trojan Dewayne Dedmon went to Antelope Valley CC after never playing basketball before.

looks like he had interest from schools like USC,WSU and others but didn't meet the academic requirements. If he has hit the books at JC he might be a nice pickup. Setty is our only Jr so it would be nice to add someone to that class.

So is this guy eligible to play this year and if so...how is he still available this late???? On paper, seems like it would be a remarkable get this late in the process.

If Arkley hadn't reported it, I would be skeptical that he even exists. There is very few references to him online.

I would assume we'll hear more on him once the Canada trip comes to a close.

Wow. His drive to the basket at 1:03!!!!!! And also a couple impressive dunks.

I'm excited. How was this guy so under the radar?

The Antelope Valley College SID confirmed to me that Draper has committed but has not yet been able to sign.

Does this mean he still needs to get some academic paperwork in order?

Hopefully this new addition can be a big contributor. I like how are classes are more even. I think the roster is set unless we can land any available 3/4 star recruits that are available. I know SP is not a huge fan of JUCOs but I think with our roster a JUCO is a perfect fit. I like the length of this team.

Not sure. SID had limited info. Confirmed that Draper committed but that he had not yet been able to sign. I would assume that's to make sure everything is in order. Hopefully, he'll sign next week once the coaches are back from Canada.

Literally and metaphorically, it is a long way from hard urban L.A. to Athens, Ohio.  The handful of young football and hoops men who we've been able to pull from the L.A. area--impressive.  O H I O is a brand that plays.
