Saul said he could sell this (Athens). Looks like he's doing a great job of it so far. He hasn't even been here for a year and he's gotten Kaminski, Thomas, Simmons, Laster, Taylor, Dartis and Taylor (seven recruits!). And he hasn't just filled spots to fill spots. He's got quality guys. . . .
And don't sleep on this year's team either. Could easily win the MAC, easily.

+1

This guy reminds me of something they used to say about Jim Snyder back in the day: "He could sell refrigerators to Eskimos."

prephoopsohio.com had this evaluation of Doug following a recent open gym...

"The Ohio commit controlled the glass with authority on a team that went undefeated on Sunday. Taylor continues to elevate his game, and looks to be a great addition for the Bobcats going forward."

Paul Baron and I visited him and things are not well with him.

Will try to get a better report if I can

No need - it is his private business. We overlapped a bit, so I knew him a little - had no idea there was a serious/chronic issue. Give him our Bobcat prayers.

I watched some of the All-Ohio Red team when they were on Time Warner Sports Channel this summer. I wanted to watch Dartis play, Doug Taylor was the best player on the floor that game. I am really excited for him to put on the green and white.

How about a high school frontline of Taylor and Seth Towns, who I believe scored 17 last night.

I would pay top dollar to see a game featuring any two teams out of Northland, VASJ, Gahanna Lincoln, Wayne, SVSM, or St. Eds square off this year. Lots of elite talent in Ohio this year (And with Nate Fowler done for the year, none of it is in Cincinnati).

You should consider coming to the Jimmy Allen Gymnasium in Newark this Friday night to catch Gahanna, with a pair of 6-8 juniors, one committed to Syracuse, vs. the Wildcats and Jordan Dartis.

Taylor and his Northland team play in the Myrtle Beach Beach Ball Classic starting next Friday afternoon. The website shows live webcasts of winners bracket games, so an opportunity to see Doug play if you have the time. Also, high major target (and OHIO 2016 offer) Seth Towns plays for Northland.

Northland & Taylor are on TV right now in Columbus (MYTVC)6.2 OTA. Playing a big kid who's headed to UNC.

Northland loses a heartbreaker 54-52. Taylor hit two free throws to tie it at 52 with less than a minute to go but Hough holds for the last and UNC-bound Luke Maye is fouled with 5 seconds left by Seth Towns and hits both. Taylor with 10 pts, 9 rebounds.

Northland plays their last game in the tourney tomorrow (12/30) at 3:30, which is available via webcast. If you are a Directv customer, I believe it will be on channel 665-1 (CSN). Taylor had 17 pts, 16 rebounds in their last game.

I think if they win today they would play tomorrow in the Consolation Championship.

You are correct sir, my bad. That game would also be available for webcast and on Directv 665-1.

Can there really be a consolation championship?

Doug Taylor hurts knee on s stupid showboat dunk attempt between himself and Seth Towns. Helped off the floor, struggling to put weight on the knee. Hope it is just a hyper-extension.
