Looks like Rodell has not played in the last two games. Was hoping to see how he'd play against Monroe CC but oh well. Not sure if he is injured or what. Oh yeah, Monroe CC won the game 94-66.

What is the deal with Wigginton? He must be injured cause no what they wouldn't play their best player. Hope it is not an ACL tear.

I dug around and could not find a thing - Ocala news, CFPatriots.com, etc. Appears he just dissappeared?

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

The real O-H-I-O

He played in the two games leading up to the Monroe tourney - so hopefully nothing serious.

Their athletics site is very confusing. He's listed on the roster, but not in the stats list. Something is strange.

He missed the Monroe Tournament - That is all.

He has played up to then. Not sure if he had an injury, or discipline.  But let's not make it out that he is AWOL.  He scored 14 points in their last game (before the tournament) against South Georgia - they were up 23 at the half and sat the starters the second half.  He scored 20 and had 7 rebounds against St. Petersburg in the game before that.

The stats they list on the team site are from 2011-2012.  So he would not be in those.

He played tonight - was featured in photo - 13 points, 3 steals.

Link to Rodell's game tonight as CF is hosting a tourney.  I believe CF plays at 8 PM.  He had 20 pts last night as they won their first game of the tourney.

According to the NJCAA site, Rodell is averaging 17.8 pts. and 5.6 rebs. per game through Dec. 18.  Impressive when you note that he's playing only 19 mins per contest.  Things to work on:  3 pt shooting (24%) and free throws (58%). No games scheduled until Jan. 4.

Through 18 games.  Leading scorer at 17.8.  Also averaging 6.6 rebounds and 2 assist and 1.6 steals.  3rd in minutes played.  So highly efficient.

Rodell scores 34 and if you have too much free time you can see it here.   Game starts about 20 minutes in.

What is encouraging is that Rodell's JUCO is on the high end of JUCOs competitively.

Good stuff. I would be surprised if he doesn't contribute heavily for us next year on the wing.

I've seen crazier things happen.

If you are snowed in or just bored, Rodell and his CF Patriots play at the above link around 4 PM.

I like Rodell's game from what I saw. Glad he's coming to Ohio next year.

However, he'll have to learn to play defense when he gets here. Looked to me like his team plays a soft 2-3 zone and they are kind of passive. It'll be a rude awakening when he gets here. I'm pretty confident he'll be able to get on board with the defensive requirements because he has the ability.

How can you tell if someone has (or doesn't have) the "ability" to play good defense after just watching them play a passive 2-3 zone?

All three of our incoming wing players play in 2-3 zone concepts.  learning man to man principles is a process, you just dont get them.  that being said, all three are very athletically gifted, so that should help.

Most good AAU programs teach multiple defensive sets.  These kids have been playing basketball for years.  I have a hard time believing that Rodell hasn't been exposed to man concepts.

Playing nothing but 2-3 zone in high school exclusively is what led to Campbell's slow development.  A big body now having to go out on the perimeter and defend ball screens without fouling takes time to develop.  Look at how many dumb fouls John Smith used to amass and he was coached in it at the D1 level and is much quicker.   Rodell is a bit of a different situation due to his athletic ability.

Arguably the nation's #1 JUCO guru, Tony Jimenez of Basketball Times, lists Rodell among the nations top 50 JUCO sophomores. They are listed alphabetically rather than as rankings.

You have to be good to get on this list. Maurice was on the list last year.

Rodell's college, College of Central Florida, is loaded with good Div. I talent.

Another player on the list, 6-5 Gary Akbar of San Jacinto, TX, is going to Kent State. No other MAC schools have players coming from the top 50.

There's a difference between getting used to it at the highest level and not being exposed to it at all.  If Campbell had no experience in man defense he grew up with some crappy coaching.
