We could use 13 points and 10 rebounds this year. Gonna be a long year.....

The problem is that many of the minutes Morillo would have gotten are being picked up by Ryan Taylor. They are scoring just about the same with Morillo getting more boards and Taylor more assists. Short term Morillo might be better (and I stress "might"} but there is no question that it's better to have four years of Taylor than two of Morillo.

Dominic Woodson, 6-10 sophomore forward, to transfer. Maybe it allows Owens to play more...

Revisiting this.

The three players we lost have the following numbers:

.391 FG%, .263 3pt%, .630 FT%, 7.54 reb*, 1.45 asst*, 2.32 to*, 12.34 pts*

Taylor and Laster have:

.462 FG%, .298 3pt%, .714 FT%, 3.81 reb*, 1.50 asst*, 1.54 to*, 10.62 pts*

* per 40 minutes

The only clear advantage the Lost Boys have is rebounding but that is pretty much undone by shooting percentage and nearly a 1-2 A/TO ratio.

And let's not forget, we get four years of Taylor/Laster as compared to two of the JUCO kids. Owens could end up being a big loss in the long run, but he wasn't likely to give major contributions this season, similar to what's happening for him at Tennessee.

I thought it was discussed elsewhere on this board, but Tennessee kinda blew up. Coach gone... Etc...

Might as well complete the Cycle. Grad transfer to Texas Tech. Beats Buffalo in the 2nd round. Good reading the back issues. Interesting to see on several sites he is now 6 foot 11. I wonder how close he is to the age, years and years removed from high school limit for NCAA athletes.

There's no such rule. The only rule is once you enroll in a college your 5 year clock begins. You then have 5 years to play 4 seasons. Only exceptions being a 6th year medical red-shirt or a religious sabbatical (ie. BYU).

I was heading home and remembered Buffalo was playing... Pulled up espn game cast on my phone and first thing I saw was *Tariq Owens defensive rebound.” Not what I was expecting even though I think it was in the back of my mind he was playing for Texas Tech.

Saul Phillips just completes a 5 year contract here. Tariq Owens was committed here BEFORE that entire span as a Jim Christian recruit. It’s crazy he still has eligibility left with the NCAA having played at 3 schools.

I looked it up... Tariq is now 23 years old. That’s actually not that old... I think he was 17 when we recruited him (young hs senior) if I recall both Bean Willis (Texas tech transfer ironically) and Travis Wilkins (JUCO who has gone on mission trips) were both 24 when they played at Ohio.

No rule? That is exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

Word is Tariq Owens tried to grad transfer to Gonzaga at halftime to finish out the year.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes
