Given the topic of dealing with issues of ethnicity in athletics, I thought I'd post these two photos that I took last weekend in Steubenville. This is the front and the back of the gravestone of Moses Fleetwood Walker, who was the first African American to play major league baseball. In 1884 he played as a catcher for the Toledo Blue Stockings of the American Association, at the time the other major league. This was before the American League was formed.
