In yesterday's Wall Street Journal they listed the top 500 colleges in the United States. We were ranked 489. Buffalo was around 120, Miami was around 312 and Toledo was above us around 400. No other Mac schools were listed and Marshall was absent from the list.

Wait? Was that bragging? I took it as alarm bells.

Definitely not a great place to be*.

*Stated without having looked up what criteria they're using to rank these schools

This has as much validity as the infamous Princeton Party School rankings.

If its graduates financial success that is measured Buffalo is going to have a big advantage with many of its grads from the metropolitan NYC area where wages and opportunities are greater. Toledo has a relatively high percentage of graduates in professional programs. The study is basically saying don't go for liberal arts in rural college towns but go for professional programs in major metro areas.

Case, Kenyon and Cincinnati unranked. That negates any credibility right there.
