But I understand it would be tough to get someone to step up for that kind of cash especially in a more rural area with 7-8 month golf season max. They would have a virtual monopoly over the market though. University Estates is simply too expensive. A hotel. A golf course. And a large development with 4 bedroom homes in the $200K-$350K (Athens area pricing) range in family friendly (ie sidewalks, etc.). If not the Ridges.... somewhere.... With the baby boomers growing the retiree ranks at a rapid pace(the Silver Tsunami), perhaps some alums would return to live out their golden years. The Nelsonville Bypass really helps in areas 1 and 2. Being that much closer to both the airport and healthcare in Cbus really brings it all together for Athens. I don't think reality has set in for many on how easy of a drive 33 is from Athens to Cbus. I think many who haven't been to Athens in awhile would be shocked when they make it from Court Street to Columbus in an hour and change. I've seen crazier things happen. As for health care, even though the fine folks in Athens do a good job, we aren't even a low level trauma center.
