He got nailed via media exposure and folks slamming him and the university harshly. That's about as embarrassing as it gets.

What else is there?

Either being removed from the foundation trustees or having his name removed from the building. Embarrassment wears off over time.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think that's too much, obviously.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

From today's ANews - this ought to be interesting:

Richard Vedder, distinguished professor of economics emeritus at OU, said in an email Friday that it's time for the OU Foundation's relationship with the university to undergo “rigorous scrutiny.”

"I wonder what President McDavis and Dean Titsworth would have said if Schoonover was a small donor; they would probably been indignant in their condemnation of the proposed strategy of using race to malign OU's faculty – the heart and soul of the institution,” he wrote.

OU spokesperson Katie Quaranta confirmed Friday that an opening celebration for Schoonover Center will be held at some point after construction is finished in August. She said Schoonover will be invited to attend.

Ohio, like many higher education institutions nationally, relies on donors to accomplish quite a bit from the funding side.

Earlier, Vedder suggested donors send money to Miami. Is that what he wants with the OU Foundation, all the supporters of Ohio University sending their money to other higher education institutions in the state?
That isn't interesting. That is just wasting everyone's time.

I don't think he meant all donors, just the most recent donation from the idiot. I also think he was talking more tongue-in-cheek since Miami is our rival and the donor said something extremely stupid, so it's the same as saying "we might as well use his money as toilet paper."

The opposing team sucks!

If we have learned anything from this thread, it is that you must be held accountable for "tounge-in-cheek" statements.

Richard Vedder must resign. He'd be better off at Miami.

Just got back in town from a trip to NE and saw this in the ANews. Rather thought provoking don't you think?

Don't take anything Vedder says seriously. The guy is a hack with a very dangerous agenda. Sure, he talks about things like tuition, athletic subsidies and administrative bloat, which are all relevant issues. He, however, uses them the way PETA talks about things like fur or factory egg farms--as gateway issues to a much more extreme and radical agenda. In Richard Vedder's perfect world there will be NO public system of higher education, NO state or federal student aid and NO federally funded research. There will be private colleges for those able to afford them and in-house "corporate training" for the mass of plebes who had the bad taste to not pick the right parents.

Even when he says seemingly sensible things, I just tune him out because I know where his end game is really headed, and he deserves no credibility.

Which is it? Do actions speak louder than words or do words speak louder than actions?

Is Schoonover supposed to thank Faculty and Staff for allowing him to donate to the College of Communication? I did do a search on The Post, News and Messenger online, and I didn't turn up any thank you letters from Faculty and Staff for the lead gift Schoonover made that allowed them to have a single facility in which all Communication schools can reside.

To BOTH Schoonover and Faculty I would say: you are both proving that it is easier to be indignant than it is to be gracious, which is unfortunate.

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.
