If we're posting Ohio-Miami, we have to post video of how the game the next year ended...

I've seen crazier things happen.

Hi Cellis033,

I was the president of the OZone in 2008-2009, so feel free to reach out to me directly and I'd be happy to share some thoughts.

At the time, pretty sure we had some sponsorship from the Marketing or Atheletics department. We also charged students $10 or $20 to join for the year. Those fees helped pay for things like matching T-shirts, bus trips to away games, and supplies for the actual games (e.g. giant foam bricks). I think we had the most success in getting the freshman to pay the fees, but less so for upperclassmen.

As many others have said already, it was all about the passionate 15-30 people who were the heart of the OZone, the glue that kept everything together and people around them - including the fair weather fans - interested. But we had some damn good turnouts (George Mason Bracketbuster in 2008 was awesome, Ohio-Miami Green Fever in 2009) for games, and the team then was only pretty good.

I agree this season is a great opp to revive the OZOne by building on the momentum from last year and of course the Belmont win. But be patient and persistent. Use social media to your advantage. Find ways to have some cool promotions or rewards for showing up. I love the idea of reaching out to Boals. I recall we did the same to Groce when he was here.

Good luck!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the volleyball game tonight due to increased school work. I plan to do a trial run against Robert Morris with a few friends and their groups which should combine it to around 15-20 people.

There's a group of about 7 or so students who have been at every game in the front row. Very engaged, organized, sometimes painted chests, and actively involved all game long. You may want to check them out.

Well everyone it looks like I'll be on a phone call with the athletic department on Tuesday. Hopefully it goes well towards reviving the O-Zone!

Good luck tonight with re-inventing the O-Zone. I really believe you can get this thing going again.

You have this OG's support. Place is electric when the fans are showing up and actually in the game.

Alum from class of ‘17 coming to the game tonight, looking forward to seeing it. Went to a lot of OU sporting events since my early childhood and the basketball games used to have some very good atmospheres, would love to see that again.

A popular chant the 110 does after a really egregious bad/no call by the reffs, called "Munch". You can hear it on broadcasts most of the time when it's done:

Munch, munch, munch
The Reffs are out for lunch
Heeeeey Reffs:
EAT IT!

Indeed - but without the Ks - Crazy Cats. Started as a project in Sports Ad and then stuck around for a few years. Used to have a keg in a classroom in the Convo after the game with the players and Nee - yea, that's not happening again.

On a side note I like something like Crazy Cats (think Cameron Crazies - damn we were first) rather than O-Zone. O-Zone is a section, Crazy Cats were fans/people. More interest in joining (and recruiting) a group of like fans, than a "section."

Took Nee a few games to get his first win. Few of us cut up basketballs and wore them over our heads until he got the win. Got people's attention. Like Cameron Crazies, dress crazy, act crazy.

Crazy Cats would be a great idea for what I'm trying to go for. I've got almost 10 people interested so far and we have a group chat set up to communicate chants / distribute information etc. We are planning on keeping it simple with some basic chants like "I believe that we will win" and "SUCKS" after each opposing player is announced in the opposing team's starting lineup.

Cellis033 if you come up with a design and order I'll cover the cost of the shirts. You can PM me and we can connect.

Count me in for a contribution. Would love to see this happen and it will add to the home court advantage.

Agree - start a Gofundme page - don't let the administration say they'll fund you $500 - but then have rules and over site. Keep it the students!!!

I'll see what happens with my phone call with the AD tomorrow morning. From what I heard they have been desperate to restart this so I might get some say in what happens. All I know is I'll be presenting a lot of ideas for promotions and how I'm going to achieve success with this. I want to be edgy but not inappropriate / out of bounds (Like researching the opposing player's families)

The university owns the trademark for O Zone, so they're going to have oversight.

He's not sure they are going to use "O-Zone" - will see

can we all agree they need to get rid of the Black Seats in front of the students? I know it most likely won't happen since the season has started, but come on.
