We are now at an early defining point in this season.
Talent is not the issue with our team.
Mental toughness is.

It is now up to Jeff to instill the attitude necessary play at our potential each night. He has his work cut out for him.

I believe we will know how this year will turn out by the Kent Game @ Home on 1/16.

Maybe you could volunteer your expertise to come in and fix the issues. Should be easy for an expert like you.

Despite my initial opinions on Boals from prior to coming to OU, we got the right guy in here. The talent is there, schematically we're young and stupid. For all of you here we're going to make a ton of mistakes, but at the end of the day this team is going to do some wondrous things. Keep the faith, for we have the guard play in a deep conference to figure it out (FIO).

Young as in playing together because certainly not young in experience - three starters returning from last year plus a JMU starter and two guys that played significant minutes in over 20 games last year.

Based on this teams last three games it's safe to say that they lack mental toughness.

So should they still consider scheduling Kansas or Kentucky? Maybe for a home and home?

I think they are young. Yes, they return a lot of veteran parts, but after those 3-4 guys, they're very young. I feel like this group will be trending in the right direction by mid/late Feb. And this year, the only thing that matters is that trend. (in my opinion)

I am now seeing a team that is becoming more mentally tough.
Last nights game demonstrated that.
I am now more optimistic for the balance of the season.

Frankly, our two biggest issues - defense and rebounding - were all about effort. I don't know if we're any tougher mentally but we are playing harder at both ends of the court. Why that was not the case earlier is a mystery to me.

They are also about communication. We are doing a much better job with help defense and trusting other players to get the rebound if we box out.

Getting snarkier by the day aren't you? Bordering on the verge of being one of those keyboard warriors that don't add much to a conversation but certainly chase people away and make the rest hesitant to offer an opinion. Thanks for your really helpful and frequent additions to creating this really wonderful place for people to dicuss Ohio Athletics.

We all understand you are a teacher , coach and sit courtside but every Bobcat fan deserves a place to express an opinion without being insulted. One thing to discuss your view and a wholly different thing to chastise someone for expressing what they see or think.

Not at all, you see an issue that needs fixed, I am sure your input would be welcome. Maybe even a career change for you. If you’d like to discuss your strategies on how to increase this teams mental toughness, I’m sure many would be interested in your techniques and strategy. We even have authors and other very talented people here who could maybe turn your strategies and methods into a profit making enterprise.

Sometimes doing something poorly looks to the naked eye like a lack of effort. Don't know if that's the case here, but it happens.

Today's game showed us all that this team is maturing and developing a mental toughness to win games even when the teams 2 best players were unavailable.

BIG WIN

The cats were definitely lacking mental toughness this Saturday. We know buffalo has a talented team but no way should they have been able to come to our gym and beat us so easy.
