Copied the following from another site. The data shows avg attendance for MAC schools at the men tourney finals and semifinals for past 10 years. Can't wait for Ohio to get back to MAC prominence in a couple of years and have an Ohio-Akron-Kent-UB final 4 in Cleveland.

Akron - 6 - 9660
BG - 1 - 7813
Buffalo - 4 - 6358
CMU - 1 - 5266
Kent - 2 - 9651
Ohio - 3 - 10645
Toledo - 2 - 5456
WMU - 1 - 5278

Semis-Finals
Team - Appearances - Avg. Attendance
Akron - 8 - 6867
Ball St. - 2 - 6120
BG - 2 - 6236
Buffalo - 5 - 6327
CMU - 2 - 6036
EMU - 2 - 5472
Kent - 5 - 7140
Miami - 1 - 5089
NIU - 1 - 6044
Ohio - 5 - 7284
Toledo - 3 - 5657
WMU - 4 - 6976

Good work on that attendance data. I've always been fascinated by how Toledo doesn't seem to travel well. They're often one of the top 3-4 in home attendance, or they used to be anyway.

The semi-final data accounts for the complete double header, right? So it's four teams contributing to the semi-final attendance figure, not two as in the championship figure.

Yup the Box scores for the first semi-finals game list no attendance, and the box score for the second semi-finals listed the attendance for the session / double header as a whole. It was relatively easy to find the attendance on the MAC site back to 2011. I had to start getting creative to find old box scores past that, so that's why I stopped at 2010. Here's the year by year attendance data that was used for the team breakouts. (Not an exact science but the best way I could think of.)

Finals
2019 - Buffalo over BG - 7813
2018 - Buffalo over Toledo - 5633
2017 - Kent over Akron - 10376
2016 - Buffalo over Akron - 6719
2015 - Buffalo over CMU - 5266
2014 - WMU over Toledo - 5278
2013 - Akron over Ohio - 12102
2012 - Ohio over Akron - 10301
2011 - Akron over Kent - 8926
2010 - Ohio over Akron - 9533

Semi-Finals
2019 - NIU / BG / Buffalo / CMU = 6044
2018 - Toledo / EMU / Buffalo / Kent = 4625
2017 - Kent / Ohio / Akron / Ball St. = 6065
2016 - Buffalo / Ohio / Akron / BG = 6427
2015 - Buffalo / Akron / CMU / Toledo = 6027
2014 - Toledo / EMU / WMU / Akron = 6318
2013 - Ohio / WMU / Akron / Kent = 10324
2012 - Ohio / Buffalo / Akron / Kent = 8513
2011 - Kent / Ball St. / Akron / WMU = 6174
2010 - Ohio / Miami / Akron / WMU = 5089

Edit: Also remember that the MAC did the double / triple byes from 2010 thru 2015. Some teams knew for a week they'd be in the semis.

For attendance the best case scenario is Akron, BG, Kent and OU. That said, I wonder what effect our spring break corresponding with the MAC tournament has on attendance?

I would say yes - with a follow up. First, I've been surprised Buffalo hasn't traveled better to Cleveland based on the fact they've won it 4 of the last 5. I always expected bigger UB crowds. Maybe they'd just rather watch it on TV. As for BG, the problem for their fans is BG hasn't been around late in the MAC Tournament much aside from last season in most years. There's been a lot of years recently where they never even advanced to Cleveland. That said, one of the better crowd environments for a MAC title game that I've ever seen was the BG-KSU final. Both BG and Kent State were really good that year and the place had a buzz about it that night, which frankly, it often does not.

I'm surprised about Buffalo. They brought a lot of people in 2005.
