Maybe you know something I don't.
The only thing I've read is that these student athletes felt that the coaches were "disrespectful".

As I posted, what exactly does "disrespectful" mean?

As far as "standing up to wrong".
In this case,do you know what the "wrong" is ?
If you do, please share it,because so far I haven't been able to find it.

I'd also like to know what women's equality in athletic competition in college has to do with this specific situation ?
Seems to be a non-sequitur.

Maybe BuckCat is upset because the Mueller hearings are turning out to be such a fiasco for the activist types. The narrative that current athletes are standing up to what's wrong and they aren't going to take it anymore really gets old. Some of us were treated like crap by coaches and we vowed never to do unto others what was done to us. We also vowed never to be "a victim" and a whiny activist. We went on with our lives and probably made a fraction of what some athletes could make now. However, it was never about us, the self indulgent nonsense which permeates sports, especially professional sports is turning off a lot of people. In the summer ESPN practically turns into a gossip show with player x saying ....about player y, not to mention people questioning the parenting skills of players, the attire and dating choices of each other. It almost becomes comical.

Someday we will know the truth about what happened at Cleveland State, but to make blanket statements about the courageous players of today is really a bit much.

I don't know if duality is the right word, but on the one hand you have a new (and good) trend where athletes will not up with coaches choking them (Indiana) or chucking stuff (Rutgers) at them or yelling at them until they drop dead on the practice field (Maryland) and etc. On the other hand there do seem to be some instances where the athletes are way to sensitive and coaches get shown the door too quickly.

Living in N.J.,the R.U story got a lot of press, and was quite controversial.

Mike Rice was fired because of a video showing him allegedly abusing players.

As far as I know, none of his players ever had an issue with him.

The video was controversial in that it was only selected excerpts of practices, taken over a period of time,by the disgruntled former(fired) manager of player development (Eric Murdock).

That individual even said that the excerpts were edited together to present the situation in his light.
It came out that the videos did not show the context of how/why the coach said/did certain things the video showed.

Murdock said that Rice's actions caused 3 players to transfer, but that was never confirmed.

Based on their initial review RU came up with disciplinary actions, which the coach did.

They still fired him.

That did not go over well with a lot of R.U's boosters and fans.

If you need help with what is disrespectful and wrong at your age, then a reevaluation might be in order.

In reference to equality, it's a good thing that we are seeing progress in that arena. A little over a half century ago, women and people of different races did not have equality in athletics and sometimes in life. I know where I stand in that regard.

Judging by Trump's rage tweeting today, I would say that the hearing is heading in a positive direction. I do appreciate people like yourself outing themselves as traitors though.

"Disrespectful",like your post,and "wrong",can mean a number of things.

What I asked was if you knew,in this particular case, what disrespectful and wrong referred to.
Apparently,just like me,you don't.

Same thing ,what I asked was what your statement on women's equality in athletics has to do with Cleveland State's coaching staff being fired ?

Again,based on your post,nothing.

RPBobcat it hasn't been a good day for the wokish left. When you have lost Chuck Todd, Lawrence Tribe, David Axelrod and Michael Moore you know things are clogging up the flusher. Poor doddering Robert Mueller was obviously led around on a leash by the Clinton Campaign lawyers who ran the Special Counsel investigation. Then when the time came for Mueller to make a public appearance and back up what someone wrote in his report, he looked like the wizard after Toto pulled open the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. I can't wait for the Inspector General's report to come out, which will eventually lead to Comey and company in the penitentiary for putting our nation through nearly 3 years of leftist concocted conspiracy theories. Then if you leftists truly cared about these miscreants, you would perform a corporal work of mercy and visit them in the Big House.

As the sage of South Central Larry Elder has said, to the left anyone who is a conservative and a believer in traditional religion is bad, but it really gets bad if you are a minority like him. Then not only aren't you following the leftist group think mantra, but you are actually thinking for yourself which is heresy to the secular left.

As for the players at Cleveland State, we don't know what really happened. A few years ago in Columbus a few malcontent players ran off the coaching staff of the Blue Jackets, because they were too mean. Soon word circulated around the NHL that it was nothing more than a few players with hurt feeling who weren't measuring up. After that, most of the malcontents ended up out of the NHL being bouncers at bars in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. It is wise to know the rest of the story before we deem Coach Felton an awful coach as has been asserted off the record by some players.

Robert Mueller is a republican who was appointed to federal service by a republican, he has an impeccable reputation. His lie count is nowhere near 10k like our president, and his fake news outlets (faux news, breitbart or drudge the sludge). Robert Mueller deployed to Vietnam and was wounded, Trump deployed to daddy's money and the lawsuits and federal suits began shortly after. Larry Elders only claim to fame is that David Chappell impersonated him in his Clayton Bigsby skit. Elder is a paid minority for the right as it came out in Newt Gingrich's failed presidential campaign, when they got caught saying that they need a docile African-American to present a controversial issue.
Back to Cleveland State basketball. Eric Flannery removed his self from consideration along with a MSU assistant. They are down to four scholarship players for next year. Kenic and Hill would look good in green and white, don't know if Boals is interested.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

You were actually the one that injected politics into the discussion unless you consider equality to being political which would say a lot about you. As far as being called a leftist, that's pretty hilarious but will happily wear that badge as opposed to being allied with an authoritarian like Trump.

Are you serious? From you: "Maybe BuckCat is upset because the Mueller hearings are turning out to be such a fiasco for the activist types." That's the first interjection in this thread related to politics. Can't change the facts.

Cut the crap. I think I can speak for some of the conservatives on this site. Every time someone from the left injects politics into the discussion and we answer it, we get blamed. It reminds me of watching Big Time wrestling when I was a kid and the bad guy would hide a foreign object in his trunks and the ref would pretend not to know what was happening. That was funny, but this crap here is getting old.

This is the last place I want to talk about politics. However, I am not going to continue to ignore the leftists tropes and victimization nonsense that creeps into here under the guise of fairness and the modern era. In other words players nowadays are so much smarter because they don't take any crap and whine whenever things don't go their way. Therefore, the coach has to be the bad guy without even trying to understand what really happened. I mentioned the Blue Jackets situation in my last post. A classic example of how some under performing players ran out the coaching staff a few years back, and then no other team wanted them because they realized they were a bunch of whiners. However, the players had the media's sympathetic ear until they were left being bouncers in Saskatoon and Winnipeg, all the while the Blue Jackets and their fans were left to suffer for years.

I would suggest that the moderators here jump in as soon as a political comment is made and nip it in the bud. Also, I wonder how many who post here have the slightest comprehension of a team/clubhouse atmosphere i.e ever played or coached on a high school team, let alone a college one. Remember how appalled people were with the language used by Coach Christian against Treg. Then it was later revealed that Treg and others stated that was par for the course with other coaches. I vowed never to be like some of the coaches that coached me in school. However, we all soldiered our way through it and vowed not to be like that, but also not be the victim. Honestly, I heard worse in 8th grade directed at me and other players than was directed at Treg. We don't know what happened at Cleveland State. Maybe Coach Felton is a big jerk, but as of now, no one knows. One thing I do know for sure, if we get any more leftist victim nonsense, you can expect more of the same in these threads. Keep the topic on sports and everyone should be good with that, even if we have a difference of opinion about coaches and players attitudes.

Buckcat, Allen other leftist alums et al. You guys are the gift that keeps giving. Sadly, Robert Mueller is obviously experiencing some sort of health scare, dementia, alzheimer's etc. It truly is sad and many friends and colleagues said as much yesterday. Yet, our friends on the left, using a page from Saul Alinsky's playbook, would never let an opportunity go to waste i.e. using a feebled man to push through their coup attempt. They wrote a report he wasn't familiar with interviewing 500 witnesses, of which he only sat for a handful of interviews. Nancy Pelosi is done with this madness as is fellow leftist Chuck Todd, Laurence Tribe and even the Socialist friend and acolyte of the Castro brothers Michael Moore. Maybe you guys are from the Jerry Nadler--Pickett's Charge wing of the demented Leftist movement, to which I say full steam ahead.

The only historical parallel I can think of is when Albania left the Warsaw Pact in 1968, because the Soviets in the Albanian Communist Party's opinion, had become to soft and hadn't imprisoned anyone and everyone and demolished every House of Worship as did Enver Hoxha's demonic leadership. Just a little joke, but then again the Left really isn't into humor. Jerry Seinfeld gave up doing lots of standup and college campuses because as he said, even though he is liberal, too many liberals have zapped the lifeblood out of comedy.

Our friend Allen mentions Dave Chappele. We haven't heard much of him since he moved to Yellow Springs. The man he made fun of Larry Elder has a Top 10 national radio shows that dwarfs the ratings of any leftist show. I don't believe there is a liberal program in the Top 20. By the way, Larry Elder grew up in Cleveland in a modest home. He's a self made man, but I digress.

I can't wait until the Inspector General's report comes out. What's the Left going to do when an Obama appointee names names and we begin to see their heroes; Comey, McCabe, Clapper, Brennan staring at the walls of Shawshank? As I said before, then you can make yourselves useful and perform a Corporal Work of Mercy by visiting the imprisoned. You don't honestly think these guys are going to take the fall alone; they will name names, the Clintons, Joe Biden et al. I am sure before any of that happens Bill Clinton is going to use his Netjet miles and take sanctuary at his old friend Jeffrey Epstein's Temple of Love island. After the failed coup attempts and the arrests which will follow, who knows Vermont might be in play in 2020!

Anyway, please be advised I come here to avoid politics but if you continue to go in that direction I do reserve the right to fire back.

It appears Jordan Mincy, the former Kent State player and Florida Assistant might be the top candidate. Terry Pluto thinks he might soon be offered the job. Mincy has got to be in his early 30s, if offered would be one of the youngest Division I coaches. Very interesting, though the Vikings job has lots of landmines to which one must traverse. Yet, there is potential. We shall see.

If you come to avoid politics, why would you post a bunch of propaganda. You went to Ohio, you are not supposed to be foolish enough to be believe what you post. Robert Mueller is a republican, his investigative team was mostly republican and all he did was describe his findings, which almost everybody could see already. We saw Trump lie, we saw who he hired to run his campaign (Paul Manafort) who has worked for two of the biggest thieves in history (Putin and Marcos), we saw general Flynn seated next to Putin at a RUssian Times ceremony and Jill Stein was there as well. We saw roger stone admit to colluding with Wikileaks when he announced a bombshell report would be announce. Robert Mueller did his job, he could have indicted don trump jr for this, but he used judgement and said that the campaign was to stupid to CONSPIRE with the Russians. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/arti... /
Back to Cleveland State, they have a new housing project (the Langston) that is very nice, they are like student condoís in downtown Cleveland. They are really trying to reach out to international students, the city is also spending a lot of money to revamp downtown Cleveland. The only concern is the crime, despite the fact that citizens are able to carry concealed firearms, the crime rate is out of control. Question, do you think Geno or Saul would have taken the job if they were available?

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Oh, wait. I'm sounding political here.

Actually, the phrase is "Ohio on the Charles."

Mark, you might want to check out who started it. Yes, I answered the leftists' political hijacking with a reply. However unlike their posts I actually did include in my post, points relative to the coaching uproar at Cleveland State.

cbus cat fan,

Not sure if you subscribe to the Dispatch, but you might enjoy a letter to the editor in today's edition. The letter is written by an educator and Ohio alum like yourself and is about the president (although he's not mentioned by name).

I presume you're talking about the "America, Love it or leave it" letter.

I don't know if the letter writer was around in the late 1960's.

I was in high school.

"America,Love it or leave it" wasn't racial,at least not back then.

It was used as the response, primarily to people who were against the Vietnam War.

In fact,I had it said to me,a white male,a couple of times when I was working to
get the voting age lowered to 18.

We told people that if,at 18 we could be drafted and sent to Vietnam,we should have the right to vote.
Some people didn't see that as loving America.
