BTW, for the benefit of buck.cat, I'll be in Blacksburg on Friday for a Civil War Weekend Conference, and then on to Savannah, Ga., and Beaufort, S.C., so I won't be posting as much over the next week or so.  I knew you want to know! cool wink cheeky

Isn't it amazing how often a team's poor performance comes down to "locker room enhancements."

This could turn ugly for OCF, I hope he gets back alive.

"We don't have the booster money in place for the buyout" doesn't really play as well in a press release.

With the exception of a handful of programs, they are wasting their money and chasing fools gold.

Think I should wear this t-shirt and walk into a meeting of the Sons of Confederate Veterans?

Tulane calls on former Chaminade HS and Miami Redskin to take over leaving Georgia State.

Top Names for California Job Johnny Dawkins Ben Howland John Thompson Richard Pitino Not Marvin Menzies Russell Turner. That program has been ugly in a very bad conference.

I’m confident Ron Hunter will be successful at Tulane. I’ve seen his IUPUI & Georgia State teams in person multiple times and on broadcast. They are always well-coached. Also, respect his leadership with Samaritan ‘s Feet.

To Tennessee then sat a year at St Johns then to Texas Tech as a grad transfer

""Nothing made me want to leave St. John's per say. It's my last year. It hasn't gone how we expected it to go, for everybody not just me. We expected ourselves to be somewhere else we didn't get to. That alone would make anybody weigh their options." -- Tariq Owens. #sjubb "

John Thompson? As much as I'd love to never hear his color commentary again, I think his chances at Cal have to be minimal, right?

I read an article that said J T III was most likely going to end up in Nashville and attributed his experience coaching in a more academic place like Georgetown as the thing that set him apart from the other candidates including Tommy Amaker and the Yale coach. I stopped reading about that point.

Fascinating. I guess I've never thought he was a great coach.

He did also coach Princeton. The Vandy gig could end up with Dawkins or JT3... or maybe not. After the Bryce Drew disaster, I don't think they will go "young up&coming mid-major guy" again for a long time. The name "Musselman" seems to have disappeared from the Nashville media radar for some reason. The new A.D. at Vandy is actually a UNC and Harvard guy but seems really interested in Dukies. But since Wojo is sub-.500 all time in the Big East, I don't think he is drawing as much interest for that gig.

Former Princeton assistant and Cornell/Vandy/Pepperdine head coach Jan VanBredaKolff is still living near Nashville and not coaching anywhere. He would make a really good assistant coach to whoever gets the head coach gig. And no, the welding certificate thing at St Bonaventure was NOT his fault.

South Dakota State’s job just became available as their HC takes the UNLV job. My point is maybe SDSU looks at Saul Phillips. He knows the Dakotas and the Summit and Brookings is about 190 miles down I-29 from Fargo/NDSU.
