You don't need to say "this is me." I can see it is you. And thank you. I appreciate you making the point that you are unreasonable and should not be taken seriously with any of your posts as you resort to questioning the intelligence of a fellow Bobcat.

If you truly believe Saul does not care, I'll join in and say shaba is right. Question the results, sure, because well, that's painfully obvious at this point.

Do I think our talent level is not as strong it should be? Yes. Would I favor a change at the end of the season? At this point, yes. But to assert that our head coach has never cared about his job is next level asinine. I don't give a shit if you're a fellow Bobcat; your opinion is terrible.

It had to be hard to keep his cool, two bad calls in the row on the bobcats best player. Kent has a juco all American from Indian Hills and we have their former 11th man.

He has to stop keeping his cool when the refs are screwing us over. He gets a T and the crowd would get into it and so would the team. They had energy for about nine minutes of the second half and have played 11 minutes of blech. Eleven points in 11 minutes is pathetic.

He does need to get strategic techs every now and then

He should have done it right after DT took a technical. I don't blame Taylor at all...it was a BS call on Carter. But damn Saul....show some freaking fire and stand up for your team and take one as well. The game was over at that point. Your team would respect you more.

Eh, game could have still been won at that point with a herculean effort. I'm in favor of taking a T for your team if it's like a tight game with ten minutes left (I remember a home game against BG in 2012 where Groce did this and we went on a run to win) or if the game is out of reach (like Groce did last year at UB when he got tossed).

Dude, you spend every offseason telling us how great we're going to be just because every roster spot is filled with a warm body and then you're one of the loudest voices in the polar opposite direction when the team doesn't meet your expectations.

It will also be bittersweet after this year to no longer see Jaylin Walker in uniform. This kid is a consistent killer and one of my absolute favorite non-Ohio MAC players to watch since I really started paying attention to MAC basketball in 2004. I would pick him to play on my team 10 times out of 10.

I had a bad feeling this might be a get well game for Kent. Their defense hassled the crap out of us all night. 20 of 63 from the field (4 of 20 beyond the arc). OUCH.

Considering where we were a few short years ago, the whole thing is becoming quite depressing. The Ball State game proved we have the talent to beat quality teams (even on the road.) We seem to be in every game then collapse with a double digit loss. This is followed by frustrated fans venting on the board and probably saying things they regret in the morning. This also leads some fans to just take an extended time out. This hit me the other day when someone posted the thread the day Coach Phillips was hired. I looked through the names of all the posters, sadly many seem to have disappeared into the mists of Bobcat history. The great coaches in MAC history (Nee, Majerus etc) had to rise above injuries, lack of talent etc. They did it with proper motivation and x's and o's.

When I can make it, I usually come to games either with family members, sometimes by myself, or with some Bobcat alums whom I have known through work related events. A few days ago, those alums abruptly told me they won't be going to anymore Bobcat basketball games until the athletic department takes the basketball program as seriously as the fans do. I am not going anywhere, I will continue to back the Cats and go to games (when I can,) but I will also put in my two cents worth, concerning a multitude of problems that cannot be ignored. Like I said to start off the post, considering where we were a few short years ago, the whole thing is becoming quite depressing.

lol - you are a total idiot. PLEASE .. leave this site as you said you would.

Right, Saul doesn't care. Guessing you never even got a degree with idiotic logic/drivel like that. It's a blanking game. Is it Saul's fault they shot 50% at the line again? Actually FUN to read the asinine comments after a loss.

I figured out what Saul Ball is. Allow your undisciplined point guard to take 22 shots and make 4. Twenty two freaking shots...4-22. Our PG has taken 92 shots in his last 4 games and Ohio is 1-3 in those games. It doesn't take John Wooden to realize that offensive philosophy ain't gonna work. For a coach to allow a struggling PG to take that many shots is unreal. And folks on this board cry every day how John Groce is overrated...LMAO.

Enjoy your Saul Ball for two more months. It's over in 60 days.

Glad to see the Monday (Wednesday) morning QB is back with his insightful analysis .. lol

Guys guys guys no sense fighting and arguing over this basketball season, Schaus has a plan in place and he has to ride the season out just like we do. Saul Ball will be history and if things work out like I think they will, Jeff Boals will be our NEW Head Coach next season.

I’ve been scratching my head trying to remember a worse played basketball game that I’ve watched, and I’m having lots of trouble thinking of one as bad. Kent stunk, too. We just stunk worse. I’m not where FearLeon is yet, but a few more games like tonight and I’ll be volunteer to be his campaign manager.

As much as it pains me to admit, I have been consumed with apathy when it comes to Ohio Basketball in its current state.

Where I am at in life right now, coming to a game, let alone many games in person just isn't very possible but I still follow each game online, try to read news articles etc. That being said, my heart just isn't in this year like it is most years. As recently as last year I would watch on TV or say ESPN Gamecast and have my stomach in knots when games came down to the wire and just always wanted to believe the Cats would come back no matter the deficit etc.

But sadly this year I expect to lose most games if the opponent has any level of talent. I am not the basketball savant that many on here and cannot pinpoint the tactical deficiencies as much etc. but it just seems like it's a two steps forward, one step back scenario with the team these days. Talent, system, coaching, any or all of these things are just not working and it's been on a downward spiral for years.

The non-conference portion of the season had some exciting moments (It's great to beat Marshall at anything (well almost)) but since MAC play has started there seems to be a troubling pattern of being in the games early, only to fold and go down double digits in the second half and not be able to recover. Having a puncher's chance at the end of games would be a welcomed sight given where things are. The NIU loss is the only one where the game actually was competitive in the second half from what I have seen.

Here's hoping the team has a few more performances like the one at Ball State in them yet.

I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who is satisfied with where we are right now. I'm not. The writing is all over the walls that Saul will be gone after this season, too. Being sick of reading the same old rehashed garbage and hashtags doesn't make me satisfied with where we are or make me a Saulpologist. I know coming to this page after a loss is going to be a joyous occasion reading the same handful of people with their same hateful "the world is ending, see!? See!?" posts. Rest assured, we all know how you feel, FearLeon and friends. We all know.

That performance last night was...eeeesh. Defensively I thought we were OK. I thought we got some good looks from the outside, no shots seemed to fall. Free throw line struggles continued. TK didn't turn it over as much as he has been but the turns seemed costly every time, I know at least two of them lead directly to buckets. I honestly thought when it was 41-41 if we could just snag the lead and get over the hump we would take the game, but that was followed by 2 horrible possessions and a KSU 9-0 run, and the game was over.

As for the overrated Groce stuff, his career record speaks for itself. He's a sub-.500 coach in conference play that can't win on the road. Yeah, he went on a run and got to a Sweet 16. That's great. Mack McCarthy. Steve Donahue. Jim Les. Kevin Mackey. All coaches who took mid major teams to Sweet 16's and did very little else. Here's an even more eye-opening list, to me. Nate Oats (the obvious one), Rob Senderhoff, Todd Kowalczyk, Steve Hawkins, and ROB MURPHY...all current MAC coaches who have better career MAC winning percentages than John Groce.

After last night nights loss it became apparent to me that the Ball State win was not based on our play but Ball State's poor play. Check their stats.
We are now 1-3 in MAC, lucky we are not 0-4.
Come Friday night at Toledo we will be 1-4.
Our team doesn't play to their strengths, lacks mental toughness, and can't play defense.
We can't make a 3pt shot as well as a free throw.
Our weaknesses are so glaring that every opponent can develop an easy game plan to beat us.

I think Groce went to the 32 and the sweet 16 and was a free throw away from the elite 8. He is elite company, let’s compare Saul to Hunter (RIH) or someone else or just stop. Groce had us excited every year.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I think Groce went to the 32 and the sweet 16 and was a free throw away from the elite 8. He is elite company, let’s compare Saul to Hunter (RIH) or someone else or just stop. Groce had us excited every year.

At what point in there did I compare Groce to Saul?

You minimized his achievements to make Saul look like he is equal or greater. Groce produced, period. You say he went on runs, now we get ran. Saul is Saul and Groce is Groce

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I minimized nothing. I showed facts. I didn't speculate and shoot from the hip. You did. Career .487 winning percentage in MAC conference games. If you include Big Ten conference play, he's a career 79-97 in conference games as a head coach.
