Counterpoint, this thread is totally fair game. I re-read the entire thread and there is not one personal attack against TK. Rather, people are presenting the facts and drawing conclusions. In fact, I get barely a hint of anyone suggesting that TK is a bad basketball player. The concensus seems to be that he is used incorrectly which comes back to coaching more than TK himself.

Agreed, this thread is pretty much textbook for how a delicate issue like critiquing an individual college player's performance should be handled. The information in incontrovertible numbers that are subject to various interpretationsl is laid out and people are exploring the different reasons for why it happens and how it could be improved.

+1. Critiquing a player (or players) and how he is used, or how he plays, is pretty much what this forum should be about more often than not. As long as it's in a reasonable or respectful way. And if this thread is out of bounds, tell me what the never ending Jaaron Simmons thread was last year by comparison?

So embarrassing him in front of the whole world is ok ? like I said, nice message you all are sending to other recruits and their families, by posting negative things about young men that chose Ohio.

If you think this is bad, go back to last season's threads. Also, check out other message boards, because this is par for the course, and might even be tame compared to some places. I get what you're saying though, and there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, and I'd think we all want to make Ohio, and BA, a place that's a notch above other said places/message boards.

The funny thing...or not funny...is that TK isn't dumb enough to say he's been playing well, or the team has been playing well either. The stats back up the arguments and critiques for the entire team, not just TK.

TK is a great player and could be even better if utilized properly. He made the All-MAC Freshmen team for crying out loud. It's not like we're dealing with a guy who should belong on the pine at a D4 high school team in Ohio.

On one hand I understand your sensitivity to this, but on the other hand I make no apologies. As others have pointed out, no personal attacks were dished out. Character, commitment and effort were not questioned. Statistics and his use by his coach were discussed. Plenty of compliments in other aspects of his game were paid. It wasn't a general broad sweeping judgment, but a pointed criticism of a specific aspect backed up by data.

Publicly discussing minors is off limits, but once you become a legal adult and go get a free college education playing sports, it is unreasonable to not expect your performance to be discussed, positively and negatively. I think most scholarship athletes would agree with me. I am aware TK and family could read this and I do not hide from anything I have said here. I'd hope most recruits would be excited to see a fan base passionate enough to follow and discuss things this closely without getting nasty.

I keep a general positive outlook and relentlessly support the team, I think my 20 year history with this online community proves that. I left work an hour early, drove 90 minute (120 with traffic) and watched one of the worst games I've ever seen...and yet will do the exact same thing next Tuesday, in the interim discussing some disappointing results. I think any athlete would take that fan over someone who just throws their hands up and walks away completely.

4 of 22 shooting versus Kent State? Ouch. Hopefully limited turnovers at least.

gman..when the season is over... please make sure to give TK and the boys one of your numerous participation ribbons that you must have won during your athletic career. I’m sure these “kids” would appreciate it.

I have a question for you, Gman:

Do you think that Teyvion Kirk is NOT aware he's currently 2nd in the country in turnovers? I'm sure he's painfully aware. I'm sure he hates it as much as we do. Nobody has said anything to bring him down more than what he probably already knows. We provided statistics that provided a backdrop for analysis of the team at its current state.

As a matter of fact, I'm damn proud of TK for still going out there every night and trying his hardest to make this team better. Knowing what we all know, and he knows, about the turnovers has to weigh on you.

So here, KUDOS to TK for still busting his ass as a student-athlete through the adversity.

These are not kids, the games are not free and these are not intramural games. Some of these young men will become pros, so this is great preparation. May have left their homes to come to Ohio and their parents are not rotating on bringing drink boxes for the team. People think that just because we are in the MAC, we are supposed to have low expectations or pay somebody a half a million plus to be mediocre because some us find the coach attractive (attitude wise). The players and the fans (at last this fan) wants to win. We want to dance.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Most of you guys here, are nothing but pencil pushing wanna be couch coaches, that are arrogant, There are some here that think just because they have a college education, that they are smarter than everyone else, its true, Take a good long look at this message board and see who posts on here, The same ole guys day in and day out with hundreds even thousands of posts you have made. you guys need a life, The post headline is enough said TK-O-Meter that's some support, kid having a tough time, also playing out of position, tryin his best and this post comes up. way to get behind your fellow Bobcat and support him.

I think Carter is 99th in the country in fouls maybe someone should start a topic.

At the same time over on the football board Gman trashes football coaches and performance of the team in a silly argument that they are 3rd in the MAC East, while calling other posters stupid.

And Gman is the same person who clearly finds it ok to bash a local kid and level accusations of fraud against a High School student with ZERO proof besides his infinite knowledge.

Moral of this story, there are literally dozens of examples of Gman and his old user name bashing, trashing or disparaging Bobcat players, high school recruits, etc., but that's ok, because he's allowed, just do not be critical of anyone he actually likes.

Are you friggin serious? The second they stop charging money for this product is the second you might even begin to have a point. Since they are charging money to attend and also casting a wide net to ask for additional money to fund the program the players and coaches effectiveness is fair game. Nobody is attacking TK personally, only his effectiveness in delivering on the product that is being sold.
