Super impressive win for the Buffs. Good for them. Massinburg has been fun to watch for years now.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Buffalo might be the most complete team ive seen in the mac since the 11-12 cats. They will slip up somewhere in conference but they could be looking at a 16-2 mac record.

Pick up one more non-con win against a Syracuse or Marquette and then go 16-2 or 15-3 in league play and dare I say...legitimate #AtLargeTeam? Not that they will need it though. I don't see this team losing in Cleveland.

They won't be. They're a MAC team which means the committee will find a way to move the target on them to ensure they end up in the NIT.

I have only seen the Buffs twice this year so far, but after watching what they did to WVU last night, I have seen enough.
I have been close to MAC hoops for a long, long, long time and I cannot think of a MAC team that could match up with what we are going to see this season.
They were not intimidated by the physicality of WVU, and played harder and faster as the game progressed into the second half. There was a stretch in the second half when Buffalo just couldnt close the gap as WVU matched them basket for basket. They kept after the 'neers and eventually just fought their way back to even, kept the pedal down, and sped away from Huggs and a rowdy crowd that got very quiet as Buffs flipped the scoreboard.
I see the Buffs impressing with some more non-conference wins, and then heading into the MAC schedule capable of running the table.

And the NIT committee will make sure to seed them 5 or below so they have to play on the road.

Basically agree with you, but I dont see them running the table in the MAC. They are clearly the best team, but I see them losing three or four games. Still the odds on favorite to get the number one seed in Cleveland. Funny things can happen in basketball , so as we all know, they will have to keep their heads on straight and take it one game at a time... and stay reasonably healthy.

Their next game will be a tough one at a good Southern Illinois. Will be a challenge with the travel and coming off a big win at WVU. And despite their good guards, at some point they will miss Wes Clark.

James Jones can recruit at Yale and they play a very good non-conference schedule every year. The top three teams in the Ivy would do just fine in the MAC.

Agree, Alan. There are several teams in the Ivy each year who would be a load in the MAC.

Add to that the show that SIU just put on in Lexington. SIU played pretty tough early then fell to the Cats length, talent and athleticism. Salukis will be looking to put some hurt on the next team they face

Miami slow starting against Butler. Larry looks unready while Ringo seems up to the challenge. Brown looks like a scorer dropping a couple of early 3s. Down 15 early now getting it back to 7. Nike taking a minute to start heating up but he is starting to roll. Not sure about these announcers and why they just can't say Miami. They seem to like MiamiOhio as one word. Would probably be the same guys who insist on saying OhioU. Why be superfluous?

Watched this game on ESPN archive last night. Fast forwarded several times so I didn’t watch every single minute. However, I probably watched at least 2/3 of the play. It seemed to me it had the tempo of an NBA game. Buffalo seemed big, strong and athletic, but also somewhat undisciplined. They certainly are the favorite to win the MAC, but I doubt they’ll go undefeated in league play. Could be first MAC team in a while to be a legit top 25 team. If they lose in MAC tourney they are probably an at-large bid for the MAC — first one this century, though we were cheated out of at least one in this millennium.

Buffalo likely to win the Mac once again. I love when the MAC is underestimated and they pull out a win. Massinburg is unstoppable.

Ranked #25 in today's AP Top 25.

Let's hope Buffalo can keep Oats. The MAC desperately needs a team to take that next step and in turn lift the rest up.

They have a good chance of being undefeated (and presumably up in the 15ish area of the rankings) before visiting both Syracuse & Marquette just before Xmas.

They need more than just that WVU win to be an at-large team. The MAC is pretty damn weak in terms of quality wins ... so they'll have to most likely win at least one of their games at Syracuse and Marquette. And probably more importantly, cannot afford to lose any other out-of-conference games. With the exception of a game at St. Bonnie (who isn't all that good this year) the rest of their schedule is mediocre at best ... and a loss to any of those teams would be crippling to their resume.

We've all seen how the committee treats mid-majors .... zero wiggle room.

UB will have to enter MAC play at 12-1 and most likely go 16-2 or 15-3 in the league.

That gets them to 27-4 at worst entering MAC Tourney ... and they'll have to get to title game for sure.

29-5 might be enough ... especially considering they've been 3 of last 4 years and won a game last year. That's a little credibility going their way.

Either way .... as usual .... very little room for error. That's just the tough reality of MAC basketball now.

Wonder if getting rid of the RPI and replacing it with this NET will have any affect? Or help a team like Buffalo.

We all know on paper, they are really good and probably one of the best 65 teams.

(speaking of which ... where the hell do you actually find these NET rankings???)

And one more question .... Which at-large bid was MAC cheated out of this millenium? I don't remember any team from the league that was robbed?

Oates will be highly courted at the end of the year. It is quite interesting that Massenburg has not been poached by a high major.

Caught some of UB's game against Dartmouth, a 110-71 win for the Bulls without CJ Massenburg, arguably their best player.

Started wondering during the closing minutes about how UB's second unit would hold up against Ohio's starting lineup.

Imagine that....UB missing its best player because of INJURY and it wins by 39....hmmmmmm.

Anyone remember the last time the MAC got two teams in the NCAA tournament? Was Wally Szczerbiak playing for Miami at the time?
