This is head over heels love. Saul has to produce, he has to show that he can recruit or else we will be in the dumpster. We gave him the big contract to win, there are a lot of people with good character that would take 300k per year to lose. Last year was a wash, he got a gift with two people leaving, now he needs to capitalize.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Do you mind sharing some of this "data available in the world", which if we're talking recruiting, that indicates "the trajectory is on a steep downhill slope"?

Glad to. This is comparing apples to apples, **MAC schools only. There is no reason to compare a MAC school to Kentucky or Duke in recruiting.

Where is the incoming class ranked on these nationally known services?

https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Basketball/CompositeTea...

https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2018/midam/basketball

https://www.scout.com/Season/2018-Basketball/TeamRankings...

.... I'll easily concede UB has the best class this year and probably last year.... etc etc etc ... Plus, 3* rankings were given to Ellis Dozier, so is that a good measure to go by?

Actually none of the three major ranking services (scout, rivals, 247) ranked Ellis D. at all... not even as a 2 star... not that I could find, anyway.

Now that I posted links to respected national recruiting services to back up my theory, what do you have besides pollyanna, pie-in-the-sky, anecdotal nonsense to back up for example, that Springs is anything above NAIA or D-3? Why did even small colleges in North Carolina not offer right there in his home state? What about Brevard College in North Carolina with an enrollment of 729? They went 4-18 last season... why would they pass on him? What about Mars Hill? They went 4-24 last season.

How about some links to all-state teams in N.C. he was named to? All-district even?

Ellis Dozier - shown as ESPN 3* here:
http://verbalcommits.com/players/ellis-dozier

As for the rest, I'm merely saying if you're using rankings that only account for 3* and 4* players, that leave out the rest of the recruited players in the conversation, are those rankings really of much value when ranking recruiting classes in the MAC? By doing so, it leaves out probably a half to two-thirds of the players recruited in the whole conference. And they aren't showing more than the top 4 teams. So, while I give a lot of credit to those services in their work, it sure seems to me like there's a big gap in their rankings for those reasons. If pointing out the lack of complete conference rankings of all 12 teams, or their use of only 3-4 star players is "nonsense", forgive me. I am amused if these rankings is your whole basis for bashing the recruiting of this coaching staff though.

As for why Springs didn't get more offers....at this point I really don't care. He's signed and coming to Athens. I'm not interested in tearing apart how good of a recruit he is, or is not, before he's even suited up for practice. I'll choose to be a supporter of the program and those that are there.

Well, you set 73 straight and did it without asking if their other screen name is "Mrs. Saul Phillips" which showed a great deal of patience on your part.

Looks like Chowan is a D2 school. Apparently Verbal Commits covers an additional 80-90 schools in D2 as well, I stand corrected. I didn't realize that, but still not D-III or NAIA.

As in saying ridiculous things. Disagreement is fine and expected. Some of the people I enjoy interacting with the most on here don't agree with me on a lot of things.

I agree that things like this, that are outside of the wins and losses should play a factor in the decision. Winning still matters the most, but it's not, in my opinion, they only thing that matters.

Because "Mrs. Saul Phillips" would have chosen Bobcat Debate and added the year to a nickname which may be before she was born? Or she would have joined BobcatAttack in 2007? Not really fair to the family to bring them into it Intellectually pretty lazy not to at least research BD73 who has been a good poster here for years. Love your passion greencat but you are a bit off the charts with your posts.

Chowan beat the Apprentice School on the road... by 10 points at at that.
(whatever "the Apprentice School" is... maybe they can schedule DeVry Institute next season, the Fighting Locksmiths)

During debates on whether or not to retain a coach (on forums covering ACC/SEC/Big10/Big12/Pac12)... it is a tradition for somebody to eventually get called "Mrs. {last name of coach here}" for their unending support and blind loyalty for said coach. Kevin Stallings probably is the all-time leader in having his last few supporters called "Mrs. {name of coach}" between the Pitt and Vandy forums, even though I'm not sure he had any fans left at the end in Pittsburgh.

If we're starting a GoFundMe page, shouldn't it go towards new hand dryers in The Convo first? ;)

If we are going to hire anyone it should be Borna with all his connections to the National AAU circuit and Indiana basketball.

Why are you bring seriousness and facts to this discussion?

It would be a perfect fit, with his connections and ties to those areas it would have to be a benefit.
