Not sure if there is any interest in a Chat during the coming days. We have an ongoing chat in one of our Rivals sites guys come in and out of all day long. Just an idea that may or may not fly here. Not even sure if it works to run when there is not an Ohio event happening. This is definitely the best week of the year for me. Unfortunately, unlike my wife's kids I can't take the week off and just watch hoops.....Because I would...someday I will.

As an aside...I like the chat function that we have on BA as opposed to sites that only have in game threads....annoying as heck.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The one thing that is kind of interesting/amusing with the in game threads is to watch the ebb and flow of fan reactions as the game goes back and forth-especially if a team starts off in a big hole and then claws back to win etc.

It can be entertaining to see "gosh this team stinks" "so and so needs to go!" "Fire everyone" then on to "oh my gosh I love this team" "so and so for COTY!" all from the same posters.

I am most familiar with the Sports Nation line of fan sites that will allow you to still read them after the game is over. Anytime you may think Ohio has irrational fans, just go to even a mid-level power 5 school to see how mild and tame Bobcat fans really are LOL.

you are right about that. Illini and Wichita State fans run to the edge of the cliff and then back away. Then the guys that are positive or find a ray of light get lambasted by all the negative folk. And the best part....the mods lock the game thread so once it is out there it is forever. Going back in game threads and reading gives you a feeling for the character of posters over a long period of time.

You captured the essence of the BA chat room.

Except he left out the part where all the guys who can't wait for the Cats to lose show up the last few minutes to gloat and say "toldjaso".

I accept your amendment, Sir. Now, let's have the roll call vote. ;-)

That one, and the game last night, were the first times in my life I've ever rooted for Marshall. I have to say, when they hired D'Antoni, I thought it would either be a big success, or a train wreck. It's safe to say it's not a train wreck.

The other thing that I like about Marshall, is that look at how many of those kids are backyard kids and not from other states. Not many teams now-a-days build their teams that deeply in their own states. Must say, glad to see someone understanding that talent can be found if they look hard enough and don't need to excessively travel to AAU Tournaments and such to go find talent. Sometimes, all you need is a gas tank and the talent is right there in front of you......

Also love this little gem from D'Antoni's profile:

Thanks to the team's "hillbilly style" of basketball, the Herd broke several records, including including points (2,997) and 3-point field goals made (356), while having the No. 7 scoring offense in the nation.

Loyola winning after a long drought was a high point for many (including my Best Man's Daughter who played hoops and softball and my bro that ran track/X country there) But TN guys....not so much

The quality of society is eroding when you find nothing wrong with this.

And no....I am not soft. Morals, ethics and character still count in this house.

It's ridiculous to see the number of people who tweet or post stuff like that, and either truly think they're being funny, or worse, I think, pawn it off as a "joke" when they take backlash. It's not always safe to assume people can detect your sarcasm via the written word.

What the heck does he mean by this, "I know it was offensive, inappropriate and vulgar, but it was only language. I apologize to those who took it a way I didn’t mean for it to be taken.’’

How else would you take a comment like he made? Unless you are a total idiot, or have the morals of jackass, you know how that kind of statement will be taken. Yes, that obscenity was "only language," and uttering those words is better than actually carrying them out, but words do mean things, and words can wound and demoralize. Words are very powerful. Our Constitution is just a bunch of words. Our First Amendment gives you the right in many circumstances to use hurtful words, but that doesn't mean that others shouldn't rake you over the coals when you say something this offensive. The best way to combat stupid, insensitive, vulgar and offensive words is with more words, ones that show the wrongness of the original statement. I thought the author of the article that borna posted did that quite well.

Did not know Jermaine Henderson was an assistant at K-State.

The former Columbus East star was a long time assistant at his alma mater, Miami, under Charlie Coles.

Really a nice guy. I talked to him at 08 State Finals when he was recruiting Mavunga out of Brownsburg. Great game vs Marion with Hayward heading to Butler and Mayes and Woods heading to NC State. Julius ended up at Wright then UK.

Those Fiami coaches are landing in good spots. Just saw Cooper on the sidelines in the NIT with Ok State. I think former SIU head Lawry is on the bench at K State IIRC. The carousel is not only for head coaches. Lots of assts scrambling
