One less thing to worry about for this upcoming home game this season.

I guess the check didn't clear.

On a serious note, that's too bad. If the WKU game had been scheduled for a Saturday, that would've been a guaranteed game for me to attend.

I have no real idea, but my guess would be that he wasn't a very good student and he wasn't doing well academically. Now, that wouldn't preclude him from being a one-and-done at that other Kentucky school in Lexington. Attending class is always optional in the SEC. ;-) Now, if I'm wrong, perhaps Saul will go after him. Trying to cover all the bases here.

Disclaimer: The above contains some elements of sarcasm.

The only reason he was there in the first place was because his godfather, Shammond Williams, was a coach. He left the staff at the beginning of this month.

Don't worry about Robinson but worry still about Western Kentucky. They have two power 5 transfers who played minutes for those programs and two 4 star recruits on top of Robinson coming..and that's on top of some guys back who beat us last year. They will still be a great game with Iona at home.

In many programs attending class is optional. More and more on-line classes for athletes.

Lamonte Bearden's Convo return. I'm not taking that lightly.

I think our 1-2 punch of Kirk and Butler should focus 100 percent of their attention to shutting Bearden down that game. I don't care if they score a lick that game...as long as Bearded is sent home glad he doesn't face us twice and maybe three times a year anymore!

I'm not sure about 2017, however, around 8 years ago the acceptance rate at WKU was listed as 95%. Made you wonder about the one out of every 20 that got turned down.

Bobcat1998 thinks we'll be good just because we have players.

I think we'll be good because it's well into Saul's coaching tenure here and it is now his players minus Laster. I believe in what he's doing and I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we do very well. People doubted us after DJ, Ivo, Walt and Reg left and we had a fantastic season. I really think this team will shock people like that one did.

Here's what I see. We have two pretty good mid-major players and a bunch of other role players. We have no star players. We will play at least two true freshmen in our regular rotation. We have no experienced point guards. Calling Butler and Kirk a 1-2 punch is incredibly premature. I think we will take our punches in the non-conference, but could find a stride in MAC play. Fortunately, I see the MAC being way down with no runaway favorites, so maybe we'll be near the top of the standings. Maybe we'll win our tournament. I still think we are one of the four best teams in the MAC.

Laster is a Saul recruit.

I know this isn't going to be popular to say and I hope it's wrong...

There is no way this team is going to be better without Simmons and Kaminski and Campbell {for whatever part of last season he was uninjured.}

It would be cool if Doug Taylor played like Boogie Cousins all of a sudden and Block suddenly became the next Gordon Hayward, etc.etc. - but those are "ifs" beyond reasonable expectations. I'll go "glass half empty" and hope to be wrong about it.

I think we could be as good - or maybe even better by end of year (Campbell was not even a factor then - and Simmons took over most games - to varying net effect)

This kid's story keeps taking twists and turns. Now it sounds like no college, one year in Europe/Australia, and off to the draft.

Am I the only one who thinks unless the NBA changes its tune, that this is going to become more normal?

People thought that with Brandon Jennings nearly 10 years ago and it really hasn't happened. I would think that until we see an NBA star go this route, or multiple stars, I doubt it becomes the "norm."

Something tells me this kid is going to have trouble academically. Maybe WKU has designed a special "NBA Preparation" major for him in Specialized Studies! ;-)

Rick Bozich just wrote a scathing column in Basketball Times about recruiting under Stansbury at WKU.

I'm more talking about an 18-19 year old skipping college to go get that 1-2 years overseas and then getting drafted by the NBA. No NBA star is going to Europe because of the dollars involved in the NBA.

I was trying to find reference to this somewhere, but wasn't successful. Would you mind summarizing what Rick had to say? (I can imagine, but I'd rather know)
