This is just a projection, and perhaps a far-fetched wish, but is there any possibility that Jason Carter has not stopped growing? There have been freshmen who grew up to another 1 1/2 inches by the time they rolled out the balls for the start of practice their sophomore seasons. If this were to happen, as Carter matures physically, Ohio would have a tremendous post player, who also has the skills to play out on the floor. Just a thought. But we can dream, can't we?

I don't think it's any kind of dream to expect him to grow a lot stronger with a weight and nutrition program, and more proficient with coaching. His ceiling is definitely much higher than anything we're seeing, even if he stays the same height.

Why does he need to grow another 1 1/2 inches to be a tremendous post player? He can't mature into a tremendous post player at 6'8"?

I was going to say the same thing. While it would be great if he did grow some and not lose any of his quickness it isn't a necessity. More than anything he just needs experience.

If he makes the same commitment to strength and conditioning that TC did over 4 years, he has POY potential.

More than one coach in the Newark basketball program have told me that Mr. Ohio candidate BJ Duling, scoring 20 ppg for the 21-1 Wildcats, is a future MAC POTY for Kent. While I don't disagree with them, I tell them that fellow Licking County player Jason Carter will win the award before Duling does.

Edit: completely getting ahead of myself here, but I wonder if there's ever been back-to-back MAC POTY winners from the same county.

In that case, 3 in a row from Franklin County. Four if he didn't go pro early.

Grow - or gain 2-3 inches to his vertical would be HUGE - On D and O

Evan Bradds (a 6-7 post player) led the nation if FG% last season at over 71%

This season, a bit less, but is scoring 21ppg with 9 boards and 2.5 assists. He has like zero shot at the NBA, but that would apply to many taller guys too.
