Attack Cat cam (imagine the posing and performing - sponsored by BA???). Do you know where you are cam/AKA Not In OUr house cam - showing visiting team fans - sponsored by Google maps?. Cheerleader cam (so we know we have some). Court Street cam (right after Lou announces "TWO MINUTES, TWO MINUTES"). Got lost on the way to the library cam. Should Nelsonville bypass Highway Patrol cam (or fake map of where they are hiding before you leave for the drive home and get nailed with an additional "contribution" for coming to Athens). Security cam (yellow jacket dude on ramp outside with no one in sight anywhere around him, 3 or 4 in yellow jackets at the turnstiles with no one in sight up and down the outer hall, gal in yellow jacket at a concourse entrance picking her nose with nothing better to do, etc......loads of laughs). The 110 can be playing while any of these "cams" are going...... -LAVA CAKE - LARGE and mouthwatering image..... And that's just quick typing without thinking about it too much....... Of all the real and perceived problems with the Convo, Lou never even crossed my mind. I think he does a great job. The only thing I hate is "stand for defense," and I'm pretty sure he's just following marching orders from Schaus there. I see what fsohio09 is saying to a degree, and I think some of his thoughts have merit. While I like Lou's work and voice, and have for years, I have always found it to be rather sad that some within the stands have to wait for Lou's orders to cheer, stand up and yell when the game dictates it, Stand up and Cheer at the under-8, etc. When the 110 starts playing the fight song at the under-8, it should be a given, tradition, that this is what we do without being told to. And I can kind of agree we don't need to know who made the bucket from the PA announcer in most buildings. But in Athens, without a functional scoreboard anywhere in the building, it's actually quite useful for people who aren't die hards like many of us. I've said it once probably in this thread, but I agree the Stand for Defense needs to die soon. Options for creatively replacing it change exponentially when you have some kind of video boards in the building, and audio to match. I've been in buildings, UC's 5/3 Arena for example, where there's a "noise meter". There could be a pregame challenge to light up the noise meter as one example. It could be sponsored, and if the crowd lights it up, coupons could be dropped from the cat walks. Moral of the story: we can do much better in the PA announcer department. We had Mr. Professional in the two before Lou, good guys, but man, you'd fall asleep listening to them. It seems a little bush league/amateur to me to have a PA announcer add so much "extra" to announcing the game. At Golden State Warriors games, they have an announcer who adds his flare to the basic announcements (starting lineups, points, fouls, etc.) and they have another guy who is like a sideline announcer who yells at the crowd during timeouts and announces promotions, etc. Seems like our guy is a hybrid of both.
