High points:

The experimental rule, which will be in effect only during conference play, can be used when an official believes that an incorrect call was made on a restricted area ruling, or when a head coach makes an appeal for a review.

If a coach appeals and the instant-replay review determines the official’s call was correct, the appealing coach’s team will be charged a timeout. If the call is reversed on appeal, no timeout will be charged.

The experimental rule can be applied only during Big Ten and Mid-American conference games under the following conditions:

Instant replay can be used only in the last two minutes of the second half or the last two minutes of any overtime period.

Instant replay may be used only when an official has made a block/charge call in or around the restricted area arc, and the decision is based on whether the defensive player was in or outside the arc. Instant replay may not be used on no-calls.

Any review, whether by the officials or a coach’s appeal, must be recognized and corrected before the ball next becomes live.

Given that MAC games have fouls called like the refs get paid by the foul to do so, I can see this dragging out games significantly.

Uh, yeah, lets kill basketball with more timeouts for reviews from the 3 cameras in the Convo.... Sounds great (terrible)!

I don't know. Unless I'm reading this wrong the only change is that it can only be used on a block/charge call in regards to the restricted area in the last two minutes. It doesn't apply to normal block/charges further away from the basket. I just don't see this changing much.

I'm in this camp for basketball 100%. Replay is already a mess in college football, removing game flow like you can't believe. If it's experimental, why not use it during NON-conference play in home MAC/B1G arena's? Also, why replay only calls in the final two minutes? In a one possession game, the bad call that was made in the first two minutes of the second half has an equal affect on the outcome as one that was made in the final two.

You're right, but people don't perceive it that way. People are most critical of the final few minutes.

I don't mind this. College Basketball games are pretty short as is. They are usually over in under 2 hours. Adding 5-10 minutes to a game is no big deal if it means getting the calls right.

The problems I see, however, are three fold: First, we're only getting the calls two minutes of the forty being played, "right", which I think is really silly. Second, if they find it successful, they'll try to implement it during the entirety of the game, adding more than five minutes. Third, there are tremendous differences in the quality and quantity of cameras across the whole of the NCAA in basketball. How are they going to sort that out if they choose to take this across all of the games nationwide?

Better solution - Better refs - Better Big Manz's - Replay or no replay.....

It doesn't take a huge number of camera angles to determine if a guy's feet are outside the semicircle which is all this is doing.

Great - let's slow down the game even more. Bad idea. Just because you have the ability to do something doesn't mean that you have to.

I was thinking that given the high number of fouls called in MAC games, you'll still have more in the last 2 minutes than most, and more oportunities to use the replay.
