The fact that this is "news" online, or even published, is really a shame. What good does it do for anyone for this dash cam footage to be made public to Fox19?

I don't know about Kentucky, but in New Jersey arrests are "Public Information",
so its very easy for news outlets to see who got arrested.

Again,in new Jersey, unless there is an on going criminal investigation, dash cam video is also "Public Information" that can be obtained by filing what is known as an "Open Public Records Request".

So just by keeping track of who got arrested,in this case the UK player, you can get dash cam videos and anything else that is considered "public".

Pretty sure dash cams are public information. Deadspin found this too.

My point isn't that it's "public information". My point is to ask why in the hell do news outlets (and their consumers) care about a 20 year old's DUI video?

I'm kind of in the "find something more important to report" mindset on stuff like this.

Agreed but when people are paying millions of dollars to watch this 20 year old "work" they want to know the rest of the story. Unfortunately it's the all seeing all knowing world we live in and I don't think we're going back.

I guess I can see your point. Oddly, when it comes to college kids, I've never worried about (or paid attention to) stuff like this. I always chalk it up to kids making mistakes.

And you're right, the world isn't going back, though I don't have to go along for 100% of the ride.

According to the news this morning , the entire Orlando terrorist attack was caught on security cameras inside the club.
Wonder how long before that footage ends up on-line somewhere ?

Sometimes I don't even get in the car much less go along for the ride. Been leaving my phone at home as much as possible when we go out for dinner or to visit friends. Talk about a sense of freedom.

Believe it or not I still use a beeper.
Turns out a lot of doctors in this area do too.
Cell phones have a lot of trouble getting signals in certain types of buildings, including hospitals, and in my case, pump stations.
A beeper uses a different type of signal,so it gets through.

I also still have a "flip phone" and a number of my friends went back to one.
I don't need to be that connected all the time.

One of my friend's sons is in his mid 20's.
He was upset that no one talked to each other.
Now they have a rule.
When they go out,all phones go on the table.
First one to answer, except for an emergency, pays.

This is similar to a rule I've made when we take family vacations. If were just hanging out together, or having a meal together, phones get put aside. At least for me, 2/3 of the people I usually speak to on the phone are there in person. Phone's not needed unless I'm setting it up for music.
