Bess played AAU for All-Ohio Red. The two guys who transferred to Ohio currently on our roster, Simmons & Kaminski, also played AAU ball for All-Ohio Red. Kaminski even transferred from MSU like Bess is.

Bess was a year behind those two I believe, but I'm sure they all are familiar.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Why would he want to put himself through that kind of trauma! Well at least he can look forward to eating out with the team. :)

He'll get a bunch of playing time at a very good academic school in Boston, playing in the ACC.

Right, there's more to consider than basketball. If BC has a good Master's program in his field of study, that probably should mean more than basketball. Even if he plays some basketball after college, he's probably going to spend way more years using his degree than his basketball skills.

Jordan Dartis and Doug Taylor also played AAU for All-Ohio Red, correct?

Just to be clear...the team sponsorship has multiple rosters and mutltiple coaches. Those teams rarely see each other so it is not like they all get together and jaw before practice. Though we were a part of Indiana Elite and later Spiece Indy Heat....the other speice teams with Matt Howard, Jujuan Johnson, Zach Hahn, Ben Botts and those were not very sociable and we rarely saw those guys unless we knew them personally. There were a group of 2007 parents between SYF,Speice and Elite that were very close and had ribs, corn and chicken in the lot during tourneys that had more to do with getting the kids together (FOOOD!!!!) than the actual team affiliation. Was not that way in the classes ahead or behind us. Maybe Van can weigh in here as he is in the middle of it right now.

Marvin Jones leaving Kent State. He only saw limited action throughout the year. Had a 15 point outburst in an OT win at WMU, which was about the only game he got significant minutes.

Seems like if a couple guys leave that's just opening the door for a 3rd or 4th guy to leave. Milwaukee lost half of their roster! Here's a list of schools losing three or more:

Appalachian State
Arizona State
Bradley
Campbell
Charlotte
Cleveland State
Delaware (4)
DePaul
East Carolina
Eastern Kentucky
Fordham
Grambling State
Incarnate Word
Lamar
Liberty
Maine
Memphis (4)
Milwaukee (6)
Mississippi State (4)
Missouri (5)
New Mexico
North Dakota State
Northern Colorado
Ohio State (4)
Rider
Robert Morris (4)
San Diego (5)
Southeast Missouri State (4)
Troy
UIC
USC
USC Upstate
Utah

I have heard both Bess and Harris perhaps in discussion with Kent State. Although Harris and Dayton also have mutual interest.

This goes hand in hand with the point from the other thread about transfer vs release, but why are 4,5,6 of these kids leaving in the same year? If it's a coaching change that occurred prior to their signing the NLI, fine. If they have new career goals in terms of their education, or truly want to be closer to home, also fine. Beyond that, to me this shows a major issue at the named schools with how they were recruited or treated, or that they were over promised something.

That would be a nice addition for UD, giving him the chance to step in after Scoochie graduates next year.

Your guess is as good as mine. Has to be some kind of fundamental issue inside that locker room if that many guys are leaving.

You have to wonder if a coach who is under pressure to win, and has a bad sub-.500 year, just tells a bunch of his players that they're not going to be playing much and that he recommends that they transfer. Of course, he also pulls some strings and finds a home for them as well.

Bess has a sister on the Kent State women's team. That has to help their cause.

I can’t keep up with the transfers. I’m thinking we may eclipse last year’s record of 700.

Obviously we're adding Wadley to this list. Anyone have players that could be a fit for OUr program on the transfer list?

Saw this last night, and I meant to ask you about it. I didn't realize he still had eligibility, but he's that senior/grad transfer. It won't happen, but he's the type of player that would be worth the one year on OUr team for this coming season.

Is this an Ohio-All Red all-star team put together to compete at tournaments? I just can't imagine these kids have any chance to practice together living all over the state. As for kids on older teams, my son doesn't really have any relationship with them. Not sure if that will change as he gets older but right now he's more likely to develop friendships with kids on other teams in the same age group than he is with kids from his program of different ages. He not only has played against these same kids for 6 years now but they see each other at different camps and other activities. I wouldn't say he's become close friends with any of the kids from other programs but they know each other and are friendly. If these kids are like my son they are more likely to be influenced by a kid of the same age in a different program than they are by an older kid from the same program.

He played at Indian Hills CC last year so he won't have to sit out a year. Wasn't a starter but put up pretty good numbers considering he only played about 18 minutes a game.

That's a pretty good get for KSU. Two solid JUCO additions for them this week.

The one JUCO is a 7 footer who was originally with St Johns and also had offers from a bunch of power programs (Purdue, Georgetown, Notre Dame, etc.)

Unless he's reversed course it doesn't sound like Bess is going to Akron. He decommitted shortly after committing to go there.
