Wonder if the staff would be interested in a one-year grad transfer wing to go with Tony and KK's senior years.

It won't totally get going until all the coaches have been fired.

It would seem to make sense to me if said player could really make an impact. I know it's not Saul's style, but he also has a pretty nice group returning, and that could push them over the top.

Would've loved seeing Kipper Nichols at Ohio. Saint Edward product. I think he could've helped out a lot here. Said he felt at home with Groce once he met him and visited. There was a nice write up on the transfer up here in Cleveland.

What about Adam McDermott of North Dakota? I know it's not "State" but the kid is 6-4, shot 41 percent from 3 and averaged 6 points per game as a frosh. Would sit out as a transfer and replace Kenny if he only has one more year (fingers crossed he gets an extra year with us from the NCAA). I would only want a guy who has to sit out if an extra scholly opens up aside from the one we have already. I think we need a JUCO or a polished freshman to come in athletically and defensively. We have shooters, we need drivers now.

So Thad & Ohio State is losing a second player from this past year's class? Grandstaff and now Giddens, each 4* recruits leaving inside of a year. Hmmm....

I'm sure we could talk about Javon Bess, now that he's available, given that he was offered by Ohio in the past. (I know it's unlikely)

Anyone else that might be an Ohio fit?

Grant Weatherford an Indiana kid, PG leaving Purdue. Had some MAC offers out of high school and Cleveland State. By the time he gets to play though, Ohio may have already signed a frosh PG in 2017 class.

Getting Bess would be outstanding. Saul could make that work for sure.

Interested to see where White from Toledo ends up. He seems like a perfect mid major fit. I notice BC offered him out of high school. Can't imagine he'd end up at another MAC school though, maybe Indiana State is still in play.

I'm honestly not that opposed to taking a look at Spike Albrecht at Michigan for the one year grad transfer rule. Not sure what his future aspirations are and if his hip injuries are 100% healed. He could be a solid backup for Jaaron, but he might want more minutes than could be available.

I would think that if we went with a Transfer it would be best to go with someone who just completed their freshman year...that would help keep the classes more balanced.

I think the best idea for a transfer would be to get an immediately-eligible wing who can play defense and create his own shot. It's the most glaring absence on next year's team. Otherwise, go for a young low post big or point and have him sit.

I would agree with this, but I am thinking (hoping) that Block can fill this role and that James Gollon is going to improve and fill this role nicely.

No way

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I would guess that is generally the fan consensus, and the aim of the coaching staff. Fingers crossed. We'll see what happens.

Out of curiosity, is there a "deadline" to turn in transfer paperwork?

I'm not 100%, but I think you just have to be enrolled by the beginning of the academic year. So if a transfer were to come to Ohio and not enroll until spring semester 2017 instead of fall semester 2016, they wouldn't be eligible to play until the following spring semester 2018 under the one-year transfer rule. I feel like an OU ball player had this issue in the recent past.

Again, not 100% but pretty sure that's how it works.

Memphis has now lost three players from their backcourt. FWIW, they had three players transfer last year as well.

Things not looking good down there.

I'd prefer we build through our recruits. Block should be a natural fit to fill Treg's spot. I would love to see what Gollon can do but I think he'll be limited to SG. After watching the video on him in HS that's what I thought. Then Saul said they were going to run him at point and that shocked me. Then we saw him on the court and I thought he was terribly out of place there. That's not to say he can't grow into it but I see him as scorer.

I would love to see Gollon and Laster (and Carter) get more minutes as opposed to bringing in someone who will only give us one year.

Why would he want to put himself through that kind of trauma! Well at least he can look forward to eating out with the team. :)

No longer possibly, but instead definitely. So Harris, Mitchell, and Giddens all in two days? They lose four 4-star recruits from a freshmen class in less than a year? Yikes.

I've always thought that they didn't play enough guys enough minutes, but all of the departing freshmen played at least 10min/g. Still, doesn't look good on that program for 4/5 of their freshmen class to transfer in less than a year.

He'll get a bunch of playing time at a very good academic school in Boston, playing in the ACC.

Surprising with Matta losing 4 of his 5 commits last class.WOTS is that they did not get along very well and PT is a concern. Makes me appreciate Saul's approach and the cameraderie I saw with this team. Harsh contrast to the previous 2 years.
Jaquan is still there at A&M though. SOme funny lines on other boards. Looks like they might understand the reality of warm body admissions policies. Lyles fits that pretty well...

Quote:
Where else is he going to go. If you count commitments, dude has been at more schools than Luke Recker. Not many have admissions like OSU's. UNC is the only place he could get higher grades.

list of rent a players for 5th years.
