Why are we all of a sudden shocked at less butts in seats for midweek basketball games? It's always been that way since the Convo was built. Same goes for midweek football games. It's just not conducive to coming from much more than 30 minutes away.

I'm lucky to live 12 minutes from the Convo, but if I was even in Jackson or Belpre I'd probably make half as many games. I don't blame those season ticket holders that don't come. I'm just glad we have so many that back the team with their limited time and $$.

Anyone can call the ticket office and have their seats available at will call for someone else. Or just plan well - for games you know you won't be able to come to find someone to give the tickets to when at a game - just find a kid somewhere above the lower bowl - it will make their day (and prolly their dad's too)

Irony is those watching the game on TV complaining about people not attending in person.

It's not that their owners can't use all of them that's baffling. It's that you see so few of them available for re-sale on Stubhub, etc. You also can't buy any of them as single game tickets through the athletics website which suggests that they have all been sold, which I find hard to believe.

Yup, just inside the main entrance. Highly recommend you check it out.

I would LOVE to have Ohio look into using a platform like flashseats for resale of tickets.

I think that would be HUGE to improving gameday atmosphere. Filling the lower bowl is important.

Not this Zuul: Zuul the Gatekeeper of Gozer is a demigod and minion of Gozer, The Destructor, alongside Vinz Clortho the Keymaster. Zuul is assumed to be female due to being known as The Gatekeeper and for possessing a female host instead of a male host. It possessed Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters. It was worshiped by the Mesopotamians, Sumerians and Hittites in 6000 BC, along with Gozer. [1] [2]

I've offered to GIVE mine away for FREE on here more than once with no response just to see them get used. Getting a person to ride with you from 85-90 miles away from a week night game is not an easy sell unless they either love Ohio Basketball as much as you do, or you promise to leave really early to allow lots of drinking time.

Same here. As to a Flash Seats resale system, how would facilitating the resale of sold tickets benefit the university? They're not going to give up ticket sales so that the lower bowl is more aesthetically pleasing to a bunch of people on this board.

I'm not suggesting they do this to please fans on a message board. I'm suggesting they do this to help improve atmosphere in basketball arena. In fact, I think this could significantly help improve the atmosphere in the Convo. Arena atmosphere is a key factor in growing the program.

Program growth vs instant profits seems to be a major source of divide among many on this board. For the same reasons I support keeping upper bowl ticket prices low to help grow the fanbase instead of getting a couple extra dollars now, I support a ticket resale program to help keep the lower bowl fresh with bodies.

It's more of a long-term view than many like to take.

While I do agree with you Monroe, somewhere there is a a line where fans should not require a 23-25 win season and a tournament appearance to be excited to come to games. This season, for example, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this team grow into what will obviously be a better team in years to come.

I am with you on that one....this is a process. I like watching the process as I see real flashes of good stuff. Not willing to climb on a ledge, tie a scarf around my neck and stand on platform or find Dad's single sided razor bladed over what they are doing here....progress is good.

OTOH I am bouyed in spirit after seeing the same ancient hand dryers and noting that the sidebar on BA is touting the latest from Excelrator...may be a portent of things to come..... my hope springs eternal for the team and the Convo Banos.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

RSBobcat, I want to add to your thought on calling the ticket office to leave tickets at will call. I did that last year for someone, and it went off without a hitch. My friend was really pleased with how it worked, and my seats got used for a game that I couldn't make. I really wish more people knew about this because I think more would take advantage of it when giving their tickets to someone.

Thanks. It works. So does the giving some away you know you can't attend if you just take those tics down to a game with you. No rocket science involved. Just gotta be and act like a real supporter and fan - of OHIO.

I agree the process is enjoyable (at least when there's progress). Realistically, though, most people won't attend until there's a lot of winning.

When I auction off my Bobcat Black tix and accompanying parking pass, I get them to the bid winners via the will call window (as arranged with Athletics and The Bobcat Club). It works every time.

The reasons that there are seats not filled are: Tuesday night high school games in SE Ohio and all elementary schools had music concerts presented by each grade, AFAN Bridge night and classes. My grandson who comes to most games has a Tuesday night course and he said there are three sections with at least 30 students in the Business School. So there must be other course offerings on Tuesday night.

A friend of mine has tried to add 2 seats in 119 the last couple years and there has never been a pair available in the entire section. He's been offered a few pairs in other sections not nearby, but it seems to me lower bowl demand is at or close to sellout levels.

Obviously, not everyone comes to every (or even most) games...but it's good to have that number of people willing to buy season tickets. I know there's a lot around us that only come to the Saturday games.

Jeesh - further to the how to deal with empty seats in the lower bowl and absentee season tic holders......

OK - area HS games, HS music concerts, Boy Scout/Girl Scout meetings, Fraternal Order of Groundhogs meeting night, my night to do the dishes, Election Day and had to go vote, my fave cable series night, etc, ad nauseum......All Excuses.

All these things/conflicts are known WAY in advance. Just give the tics to ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME......

Just be a generous person - a generous Bobcat - a supporter who maximizes their contribution exponentially......

Local basketball fans are going to go see the marquee HS matchup and watch friends and relatives play, that's not an excuse. I could name 100 people who only miss Ohio games when they conflict with the local high school schedule. And we are not Kentucky, there is not overwhelming demand at this time where people are begging for tickets. In fact you can still pick extra tickets up out front if you are ever in need.

If you don't offer them to someone of course you would assume there is no "demand"...........

The HS schedules and MAC schedule are out months before the season starts, and you have your tics Well in advance of games. Not rocket science..........
