Who is our X Factor this year?

I would say that James Gollon is our X Factor this year. I really see him as a more athletic version of Travis Wilkins, who is one of my favorite all-time Bobcats. Great range, has a mid-range game and can handle the ball. 4.0 GPA and seems like he's just a hard-working kid.

I also see as my 2A and 2B choices to be Doug Taylor and Wadly. One of these two guys needs to give us 10 minutes a game inside, altering shots and running the floor. We know we're going to get solid play from Tony, Kenny and Jaaron. We know Laster and Treg are going to give us energy and defense. We know Khari, if healthy will be a decent bench player.

I would like to think that Treg Setty will be an X Factor. Would love to see his his hustle and enthusiasm is paired with smart play that continues to provide a spark for young guys and puts them in positions to show their talents.

Treg Setty scares me. I'm hoping he's just role player PF.

We need one of the freshman to be freshman of the year good.

I'm saying Dartis or Gollon

Do we really "know" this? Our record with transfers should make it a slight question mark on both until we actually see them play in this system. I would say the only sure things on the team are Tony and Treg. And if reports of great ball movement prove to be correct I think Tony is going to have a huge year.

Kaminski's shooting is our x-factor. I think he'll at least be solid, but his shooting could really be a game-changer.

I've seen crazier things happen.

I think as a whole our shooting is going to drive opponents nuts between Gollon, Dartis and Block as freshman coupled with Kaminski.

Saul - this is now his team. It should have his fingerprints and completely reflect his philosophy. It should meld. It should be one unit. If it does - good things will happen. If not, it is on Saul.

At the current time, I agree. Because we haven't seen most of the guys who will play big minutes, right now, I can't really give an opinion. I'm assuming we're going see big things from Tony and Simmons, and probably/maybe Kaminski. After that, everything else is an unknown, and we'll see how they develop.

The team chemistry thing at this point in the year isn't something I'll buy into anymore. I just hope that the competition for PT, roster depth, and the fact that this is now Saul's group of guys almost entirely, will all result in a better brand of basketball and better results.

Watching several practices, this year Coach Phillips has really been emphasizing team defense. He has been far more demanding and vocal in practice sessions compared to last year. Very impressive! He has some quality athletes and his task will be too get them working together. I will say that this is the first year in many where no one player really stands out. It will be interesting!!
