The Illini on a European exhibition tour. It has been reported, a player was arrested at 5AM in Deauville, France after police received reports of windows being broken and vehicles being damaged; charged with vandalism and public intoxication and then resisted arrest the station reported.

Oh, the pain coaches sometimes must endure in their profession. Enjoying the French countryside with your team, perhaps a glass or two of Bordeaux, getting in some practice and then you have to deal with an issue like this!

the kid in question is Darius Paul, who transferred from Western Mich a few years ago and as been in trouble almost from day 1.

I like Groce and am grateful for what he did in Athens. That said, I think he takes too many chances with kids. He did at Ohio and he's done it in Champaign.

Not sure it's chances as much as his eternal optimism. Got to know JG here at OU and have visited with him several time at the U of I. He's the kind of guy who believes in people and believes that most folks can achieve given the chance and the right support. Unfortunately, there are some real nut cases out there and every college has recruited a few who just shouldn't be in college but they have athletic talent. When your million dollar pay check depends on wins, sometimes the best of them make bad decisions.

He always sees the good in folks. TO a fault.

2nd chance after being sent Port Arthur TX for a year after failing 2 drug tests. Bet he does not get a third.
