Arkley with another must-read for Bobcat basketball fans.

http://www.athensmessenger.com/sports/ohiouniversity/the-...

Wadly has been a guy widely debated since he came into Athens. He has always oozed potential. At the start of last season, it seemed like it was starting to come together. Then it just kind of trailed off... The article answers a lot of questions. I also think this settles the rumors he may transfer. I'm really excited to see how he plays this season. As he becomes more experienced dealing with his disease, I think he will excel.

Loved this quote. Great outlook.
“I take it as a blessing. Other people can’t walk, other people can’t do other things, or don’t have arms, or legs,” he continued. “I just apparently have Crohn’s Disease.
“If this is the way God wanted me to live life, then I’m going to live life the best way I can.”
I'm rooting for him.

I've seen crazier things happen.

And this quote from Saul.

"But you hope it (treatment) makes him a better student, you hope it makes him a better person because he’s finally able to feel good,” the coach added. “It’s been a struggle.”

Saul still needs to get the wins, but you can't question his character.

Wadley may want to reach out to former OU baseball alum (player and asst coach) Michael Florak who suffered thru debilitating issues with Crohn's. Mike even wrote a book on his issues and his story and how he dealt with and ultimately beat this dreaded disease is quite a compelling read. Wish Wadley much success in his struggles and return to good health going forward.

Pretty unfortunate that three guys from the same recruiting class have had serious medical issues. D.J. Wingfield had to be medically disqualified before ever playing a game, Khari Harley has had some major back problems, and Mompremier has dealt with Crohn's disease.

I'm glad that he identified the problem and is, apparently successfully, receiving treatment for it and has it somewhat under control. My grandmother died** from chrones disease, though she was diagnosed with it late in life and might have been a different category of the disease

**70 years of smoking and being 85 years old probably didn't help her outcome...I was only in 9th grade at the time, but I'm pretty sure that chrones was likely just the proximate cause

That's a really good observation. And really unfortunate primarily for the student-athletes and secondarily for the program. Usually the main issue is homesickness.

I'll be rooting hard for Wadly this season. Always have been intrigued and the start of last season had me very excited about his potential.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Treatment for Crohn's Disease is much better than it used to be. Most victims live a normal life spam with appropriate treatment. There is no cure for the disease, however.

Crohn's effects different people in what can be greatly different ways. Hopefully Wadley is at the lower effect end of the spectrum.

The effects do affect different people differently. My 2nd son is a challenge as we get to explore new restaurants all the time based on his tolerances. IIRC Tom Howland played for Buckley at Ball State and had to give it up based on his colon situation. Hope Wad has an excellent year.

I saw him Saturday at the football game. I walked up to him and told him that he looks fantastic, which he does. He has gained a very significant amount of weight and looks really fit. He said he was feeling good and that it should be a good year.

My expectation is he will have the same competitive "fire in the belly" - and more ability and experience to unleash that to some great minutes on the floor this year

Double double for Wadly. Some very big offensive rebounds. Great game. Big things to come.
