Contract details don't appear to be available but he'll undoubtedly attend the Maverick training camp with a real shot at making the team.

The Mavs supposedly offered more (guaranteed) money than the Knicks, and it does seems he should have a good shot at making the team (though he could be relegated to the D-League). It's hard to find an accurate roster for some reason with free agents excluded, but as far as I can tell, Dallas has 10 players under contract, including Ndour, plus two rookies who will join the team. That still leaves three open spots. Ndour will be behind Zaza Pachulia, Chandler Parsons and Dwight Powell, but the team is pretty thin at forward as it stands. They have 7-2 rookie center Satnam Singh (a big project) and could bring back free agents Greg Smith and Bernard James.

Congrats to him! The Mavs release says his name is pronounced n-DOOR. I don't understand why the capitalized the second part, is it supposed to be said louder? Not a big deal I know, but just wondering for my pronunciation purposes.

Ian Begley: Mavs gave #Knicks summer leaguer Maurice Ndour a 3-year deal. First year guaranteed. Half of the 2nd year is guaranteed, per league sources.

When dealing with pronunciations, typically the capitalized portion is emphasized/stressed.

Congrats Maurice!

So now he'll have to learn yet another language -- Cuban. ;)

Well done, young man. You've already made us proud. Now have some fun and show them what you've got.

That would be great. He'd almost assuredly have a place on the team this year it that's true, although he could still be assigned to the D-League.

So if this chart is right:

http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/minimum_scale

he's guaranteed about $960k over the next two years. Anyone know how that compares to the Euro money he could make?

Great news for MO.
The money in the NBA is better than what he would receive overseas. In addition remember there is no income tax in TX, a 5% savings over most states.

That is the minimum contract amount. I'm not sure that anything has indicated that he signed for the minimum. The Mavericks had enough cap space available to offer DeAndre Jordan and then got turned down, so I'm sure they could have offered more than the minimum.

I think it's hard to compare European salaries. I believe they have risen greatly in recent years. Salaries usually are written in euros and listed as net amount after taxes, and oftentimes, the team pays the taxes for the player, so he's really getting much more. Many European players also get paid various living expenses (housing, utilities and even maids). When all of that is taken into account, some guys make the equivalent of more than $10 million American. But the number of guys who make millions are minimal. It's hard to say how much money Ndour could have received in Europe, but he probably could have gotten more. Most players are willing to take a little less to try to make it big in the NBA.

I thought D-League money was often less than many Euro Leagues. Am I mistaken? I don't pretend to know the in's and out's of NBA and D-League contract dollars.

D-League money is VERY minimal, ranging from $13,000 to $25,00 plus benefits. However, players who sign NBA contracts and then get assigned to the D-League still get paid their NBA contracts.

D league money is a lot less considering they still have to live. Overseas dollars are essentially theirs since they do not pay for cars, apartments, meals, gear, phones, internet, cable, teams pay agents and taxes, etc.

Living overseas seems a lot cheaper too as there is less carousing, hanging with homies and spending....essentially they go to practice, meet for lunch, sleep, practice, do community service at schools several afternoons a week and go to eat again then head to bed. Not a lot of clubbing, time away to spend money and not a lot to pay for.... most of the guys (and their parents) in Indiana I have talked to for the last 4 summers between games and workouts that play overseas talk about spending their free time resting, seeing the town they live and practice in, keeping in touch with the states on skype/whatsapp/instagram/fb/tinder (even seems to work in overseas cities), watching movies on netflix or hulu and/or slingbox and trying to keep up with fantasy leagues and ncaa fb/ bb via espn or other outlets...leave in August / home in may and not a lot of time to spend the money they are earning.

Getting it back and forth is the most interseting part between leaving it over there or bringing it home. Great stories from guys who are clueless to guys who are definitely business majors with a plan. Had one guy tell me "I feel guilty, all my classmates are working, paying rent, paying for cars, insurance and everything while I just bank my check." I said ....remember all those spring breaks and summers they were on the beach and at the pool or taking vacations while you were in the gym and weight room?....don't feel bad ....some of the stuff you missed in your younger years is coming home to roost. Enjoy the ride and keep playing.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

The Mavs signed Samuel Dalembert, so that's one more veteran likely to be ahead of Ndour on the depth chart, but that was to be expected.

Mo would not have been under the radar last year if he had had a chance to play with Simmons. But it worked out for him. Best wishes Mo.

Imagine what Mo and DJ on the court together would have been like. I know the expectations are high - but I have not yet seen Simmons drop a dime on the court. I can see a wide variety of scenarios/in play options of how that would have happened with Mo & DJ

Really loving the fact my father in-law is a Mavs season ticket holder. I'd be interested in a carpool from Dayton to see the Mavs @ Pacers.
