My guess is the Rockets. A need at the point, and he fits what they're doing well.

I don't know, this reads more like something an agent would float to drive up his client's contract price in a Euro league.

BUT WHAT ABOUT SOURCES?!?!

It wouldn't surprise me the slightest if you are right. I'm hoping this plays out with DJ ending up in the NBA. I have always believed that despite his height he had the right mix to become a solid NBA player. With a young child back home, the lure of the NBA might not be his lone motivation to getting back to the US.

Good for DJ. Staying on his game and using the overseas experience to get a big time job.

Eye on the prize

speaking of the future I hope the Post writer keeps his eye on the prize and uses words of his trade accordingly ...

"Another former Ohio men’s basketball player, Maurice Ndour, has peaked NBA team’s interest, as the forward has worked out with the Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics according to sources."

I don't mind message boards where people can't tell the difference between LOSING a game and LOOSING a game or the there/their/they're controversy is found amongst a multitude of mistakes. While those and others drive me crazy, the fact that it is a message board makes it easier to consider the source. To come from a writer for a University related publication? Please. Stop.

There is also an incorrect use of an apostrophe.

I'll see your initial grammar rant and raise you one misplaced apostrophe. "NBA team’s interest" makes absolutely no sense in that sentence.

College is the time to make these mistakes. Unfortunately, this kind of thing regularly appears in professional publications now that copy desks have been decimated by layoffs. Everyone giggled about the "amphibious" pitcher recently, but I just look at errors like that as a sad sign of how little we value for decent journalism.

My grammar used to be absolutely terrible. Now it is less terrible and I cringe at all these things.

Summertime and the livin' is easy. They have a new editor at the Post, a sophomore-maybe-turning-junior who's getting her feet wet. Let's hope that by fall she will have honed her editing skills to meet our exacting standards.

Anyway, this is great news for DJ and for Mo. Good luck, guys.

Ah, NBA offseason rumors begin! I hope something comes to fruition here. I'm glad DJ has done well in Europe but we all would agree he deserves a shot in the NBA.

Take your NBA shot. If it doesn't work, head back to Europe, where it appears he should have not problem making a nice living for quite some time.

Oh, let's stir the pot a bit and cause the hearts of BAers everywhere to go aflutter!

"The Cavs have tested the market in swapping Haywood either for a player or a future draft pick, sources said. On their wish list is a facilitating guard they can bring in to either back up or play alongside Kyrie Irving. The Cavs have a number of free agents, including backup point guard Matthew Dellavedova and starting shooting guard Iman Shumpert."

Well, at least we won't have to wait long to see what happens if the July 1 date is correct.

I looked up DJ rumors and found that his Greek team lost in the playoffs 0-3 "matches". There was an interview which stated that he didn't play much the first 2 "matches", but scored 7 points with 6 assists in the third "match". He said he really loved the team and would love to come back and play there again next season. Sorry I couldn't copy the article, but that's the essence of it.

Hey, like all of us I am very happy for DJ. I agree he deserves a shot. We all know he can dish the ball. The big questions in my mind are: is he too small and not physical enough to play NBA defense (even if the NBA is god awful contact wise) and can he shoot well enough to stay in the league. If he has honed those two areas in Europe, he could make it! He has always reminded me of nick van exel...time will tell.

PG #1 (6'4", 190lbs), College Stats ('09-'13):
4,944min, 1,933pts, 768assts, 469reb, 150stl, .415fg%

PG #2 (6'0", 176lbs), College Stats ('09-'13):
4,835min, 2,075pts, 934assts, 620reb, 327stls, .380fg%

How much better is Matthew Dellavedova than DJ Cooper, really?

Indeed, great thought. The thing I like about DJ's situation is that he's succeeded in Europe. Things went well for him. So he's only going to move up. Whether it's the NBA this upcoming season or in 2-3 years (if he sticks with it), DJ is on the rise.

Those steal numbers jump right off the page. He doubled the number of steals even though he was 4 inches shorter. But Delly is the stopper that Cavs fans love? Please.

Perimeter, I don't think anyone disagrees that DJ had comparable or better stats than Delly coming out of college. The ones that make it difficult for DJ to get in the league are 6'4" vs. 6'0" and 176# vs 190#. The NBA is a big manz league. I still think it is "possible" for DJ to make a team but it is a real uphill battle. Add to that, there are also 30 new really good players getting paid a ton of money every year coming out of college!

Take a quick glance at all the players drafted over the last five years. Not even many draftees make a significant mark.

I agree Casper. I think watching Delly guard Curry in the finals it was clear his size helped him defensively.

DJ is a good defender but defensively his style is completely different from Dellavedova. Delly had some ability to man up on guys. DJ is less physical and more about his quickness going for steals.

Most of the small guys in the NBA are elite outside shooters. DJ is solid, but that isn't his game. I've always thought DJ's court vision/awareness would make him a good NBA player but I'm not surprised people are skeptical. I really hope he gets his shot for a lot of reasons, but one of them is that I am really curious to see how his style translates.

Here's a list of common opponents for Cooper and MD their senior year ('12-'13)-

Portland
PG A- 31min, 18pts(7-13), 6ast, 5reb, 3stl, 5TO.
PG B- 25min, 23pts(7-12), 3ast, 1reb, 2stl, 3TO.

Memphis
PG A- 32min, 19pts(6-13), 4ast, 3reb, 2stl, 5TO.
PG B- 40min, 10pts(3-13), 7ast, 3reb, 1st, 6TO.

I assume those that place a premium on 4 inches and 14 pounds can quickly and easily identify which PG is the one that can play at the next level and which one cannot.
