bonuses for winning MAC/Tourney seem small... and $1000 to the assistant coaches seems pitiful...

the buyout seems extremely low almost to the point of why even have a buyout clause...

the carpeting for the offices and locker room upgrades seems to indicate he's planning on staying for a while...

Are there any openings at schools that might want to offer Boldon at this time?

I agree the buyout amount seems low,but I don't know what the norm is in women's ,as opposed to men's basketball.

It also seems, from what I've read, that, with his raise, his salary will be line with a lot of the better programs.

Unless he can make a deep run in the NCAA,I don't know if he'll be on the elite programs' radar.
(Famous last words,fingers crossed)

Maybe (fingers crossed again) he's the type of coach who would like to build the program.

Originally I thought Boldon would bolt at the very first opportunity and would be looking for that opportunity very quickly. The vibes I'm getting now seem somewhat different. I hope my initial thoughts were in error.

Interesting that it took a FOIA to get the details. Sad.

Can't be mad when people work within the parameters they're given.

I know that the perspective in Los Angeles is different, but we better get a truck rolling to gather for some hefty increases--espec for the assistants--which look like are gonna be warranted.

I'm no expert but I saw about 5-6 games this year. I'm curious about the opinions of the aficionados such as borna, etc. 'cause for my money the ladies were VERY well coached and to think that Boldon is not on major programs radar because we didn't go deep in the NCAAs is sadly mistaken. Dude can coach.

If in fact Boldon is in Athens for the long haul I'd like to suggest he gets up here to Newark to check out freshman guard Adrian Crockwell. She was the second-leading scorer on a team that reach the D-I state semis. She was the best player not named Kim Royster (D-I co-player of the year in Ohio) on the team.

What impresses me about him is he doesn't seem to "overcoach". He puts his ladies on the floor and lets them play. Novel concept.

The buyout for Saul Phillips is $950,000, dropping to $850,000 here soon, but that's way more than a season's worth of his contract. Boldon's buyout is just a small fraction of one season of his contract, so I agree it seems low, but like everyone else, I have no idea if that might be the norm for women's basketball.

Agree bigtime about Coach's approach and that it's a good one.

Boldens court side demeanor is similar to Sauls. Yet some criticized Saul for "not coaching" when he also wasn't fiery. I'm guessing Bolden took similar flak the previous year when his team only won nine games. Boldens players this year admitted they didn't really buy into Boldens system during that nine win season. I predict we will probably see the same kind of improvement in the men's program, though it may take Saul two more years to get the results.

FATMAN Huggins sideline meltdown, gripping, vein-popper as his WVU blew a big, late lead at Kansas made me think that his players played the same way he coached. It was ugly. I wouldn't want to play for that guy.

Did I mention that Huggins seems to like to eat.

Interestingly, most of his players seem to love him. UC players did anyway.

He was interviewed at length on a local Cleveland radio station yesterday and my opinion of him changed, he was surprisingly likable.

Interesting that certain 'supporters' enjoy trying to drag the AD through the mud at any opportunity.

No one had to drag anyone through the mud. The first paragraph of the article by a professional journalist raises the issue.

It was announced two weeks ago, but terms of the contract extension for Ohio University women’s basketball head coach Bob Boldon were released Tuesday following a Freedom of Information Act request from The Athens Messenger.

Would many coaches seem 'unlikeable' in an interview? I can imagine that Huggins is likeable--interview/media savvy.

But his sideline demeanor in that loss to Kansas was offputting. His team seemed to follow his lead, crumbling emotionally.

Sideline demeanor is overrated. The preparation and coaching that occurs in practice is the larger factor in wins and losses.

And Chuggy Bear likes to drink.

Bad dude. UC saw it and the President fired him. Then he screwed K-State. And also us when he picked off one of our verbals from Cleveland, sold him a line but never played him.

I agree Medina and one would hope that the practice and preparation would limit the amount of sideline theatrics that goes on with way too many coaches.

With all the standard timeouts per half that are granted by the rules, the under 16,12,8 and 4 stoppage of play, the amount and length of the media time-outs, the review of the monitor stoppages etc., etc., a coach worth his salt has ample time to adjust, chew-out, pat on the back etc. whatever he needs to do with his players.

That some coaches have now taken to not only being on the court but to virtually trying to micro-manage every players every movement short of being in the middle of the play themselves borders on the ridiculous.

I think the whole basketball world needs to take a page from the NHL. The coach behind the bench and he gets ONE time-out per game. While I don't advocate that drastic a change, I do think the basketball powers to be need to rein in the out of control sideline/oncourt circus level that some coaches are guilty of.

Anybody notice how OLD Billy Hahn looks? Yikes, he must be spending way too much time breaking down film (and 12 packs) with Huggins.
