What "instigated" the T's on Bean and Mo? Were they looking for calls or upset at calls against them?

They both thought they were fouled after missing shots. But, at least from the broadcast, neither appeared all that demonstrative. Without knowing anything that transpired it's hard to judge the calls but I can't remember either player getting one in the past.

JSF, your comment about rebounding margin is your opinion and not a fact. I just happen to think if we had 5 more rebounds we might have won in regulation.

For example, fact is and I know we missed a bunch of shots. If we had 1-2 more offensive boards in regular play and put them back we might have won. On the other hand, had we gotten one or two more of their misses and limited their O-boards we might also have come out on top too. So, rebounding does make a difference.

Every stat really tells a part of the whole story and you can think any is or is not important but when you put them all together you see why we made it much more difficult on ourselves to win the game in regulation.

Rebounds aren't a 50/50 propositions though. The defense, statistically, has a big advantage. You are much less likely to get a rebound on one of your own shots than you are on one of theirs. So whichever team is missing shots makes a huge difference in overall rebounding totals. So yes, if we had rebounded better we might have won but statistically we rebounded well to begin with, at least compared with Evansville. And that's not an opinion, it's statistics. My opinion is that defensive rebounding has been one of our strong suits most of the year and statistics seem to support that.

So we did a good job of defensive rebounding given your stat.

It's still the old woulda-coulda proposition...my point is: if we woulda got just one or two more O-boards and put them back in OR just got one or two more D-boards that they got and put back in, we coulda won in regulation. In other words, if we are even in rebounding and not down 5 we coulda won the game in regulation. So, I happen to think rebounding OR rebounding even better does matter.

Bottom line is: they outrebounded us, we didn't do the above and we lost in OT. Obviously, there were other factors. I just pointed out one stat where if we had been better last night, we coulda won!

We weren't and we lost.

Sure, if we had 5 more rebounds that would have been some number of points they wouldn't have had the opportunity to get and we would have won.

Can say the same about free throw opportunities awarded on technicals.

Both live in a world of candy and nuts.

To your point, that's not the bottom line. They scored 3 points the entire game off of offensive rebounds. We scored 8. I'm not sure I would say we did a good or great job rebounding but watching the game at no time did I think that rebounding is what was killing us. Yes, we could have gotten a couple more rebounds but it was much more important that we couldn't stop dribble penetration in the last 8 minutes of the game. It was a lot more important that we didn't take 25 footers with a hand in our face with 25 seconds left on the shot clock throughout the game. Saying the team that had more rebounds proves who the better rebounding team is is like saying that the better shooting team is the one that made more shots. Context is everything.

Most college coaches know that rebounding totals don't tell you anything. If you're going to look at any total, look at offensive rebounds (though rebounding percentages still are better). Ohio had more offensive rebounds. Season numbers show Ohio to be pretty good at rebounding and terrible so far at outside shooting.
