Last spring when Kelvin Sampson took over as the head coach at Houston 3 players decided to transfer out of the program-

Fr Jaaron Simmons, Dayton, OH
So Danuel House, Houston, TX
Jr TaShawn Thomas, Killeen, TX

Simmons was granted a release immediately without any restrictions. House and Thomas, the top two scorers on the team, were originally denied the request. Eventually they were released with the following restrictions-

- no other D1 Texas school
- no AAC school
- no Houston opponent next 2 seasons

Thomas ended up at Oklahoma and House ended up at Texas A&M, in violation of the restrictions regarding his release. However, within the past week both Thomas and House have been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA and can play this season without sitting out per the NCAA transfer rules.

So the obvious question is- how did two players transfer further away from home and get their mandatory red shirt year waived but their teammate who moved closer to home did not? Is it just a coincidence that the other two players transferred to high major schools?

It seems like the NCAA goes out of its way to appear inept.

I wonder if it is a situation of us not pursuing him to be eligible right away. With two experienced PG's on the roster it makes more sense to get him for an extra year on the back-end.

The best remark I ever heard about the NCAA IS AS FOLLOW- NOT AN ORIGINAL THOUGHT-- BUT VERY TRUE

"THE NCAA IS LOOKING INTO KENTUCKY AND UNLV------------ but will put Cleveland State on probation "

I gotta believe this at least played a factor. Either that, or I am forced to lose all hope in humanity because you're right perimeter, it is ridiculous.
