He looks like an entirely different player. Very exciting!

Reminiscent of Flomo tonight. By far, biggest off season growth on the team.

Worth mentioning that his sister just committed to play ball for Baylor.

+1 on both comments.

I give a lot of credit to Saul for this. I think Saul has given him confidence. He may be the kind of player that at this point in his career was kind of down on himself. That was kind of my impression last year. Saul seems to have encouraged him to believe in himself. I'm sure there were x and o pointers too, but I think the psychology aspects were foremost. Just my guess from afar.

Saul has mentioned something along the lines of this thought. He said Wadley gets in the way of himself sometimes.

I completely agree with this line of thinking. His confidence looks sky-high. Now, let's discuss free throw shooting....

Side note, I'm wondering if it's possible JC or anyone on his staff had a similar effect on Ivo? Or Kadeem Green?

I'll take an aggressive big having less than desired FT shooting % if he's taking it to the rim, scoring at the rim, and when not drawing fouls on their bigs anyday.

I think you may have a hammer close to a nail on the JC Ivo/Kadeem query.

So massively improved and body condition so increased that it's almost as if this is a new human being. What a bonus to 'find' a BIGMANZ where one didn't really exist before.

Let's see the 'bounding and swattage in the MAC.

I agree, Monroe. And, let me add, you may very well have the same surprise finds on the football field next fall. Just saying . . . ;-)

7 players (44% of the roster) is within three pounds of the 177 pound "Daz-Line".

Just saw that his sister, 6'4" Beatrice, is listed by USA Today as one of the top 25 seniors in the nation. She's a 5 star recruit for Baylor.

Guys, why would everyone make a big deal about a kids improvement being so much just because of the coach? Maybe the kid matured a year got in the weight room, worked on his game and has a changed outlook outlook on life? None of that would be on the coach. We all know coaches have an impact but haven't many of you said too much blame/praise is put on coaches? Not enough on the player themselves?

Except it was under Groce that Ivo stopped taking it to the hole. Over the last 12 games of the 2012 season Ivo had 2 free throw attempts. Through his first two and half years as a college player he attempted 256 free throws. Over the last year and a half he attempted 15.

That's still something I'm stunned by. He was a good free throw shooter, and great getting to the bucket, and then suddenly went away from doing it.

Yeah, it was odd although we had two athletes completely changing their games around the same time. Both he and Tyler Tettleton completely changed the type of player they were after injuries.

You could be right that we would have seen the same transformation if JC was still here, but my gut tells me that that would not be the case. He just looked like he was destined to be a four-year bench warmer. And, with JC's tendency to pull players after their first mistake, I think Wadley would never have gotten the encouragement he needed. This is based on my reading of JC and SP and their approaches to player development. JC seems more an old-school and "hard knocks" kind of guy; whereas, SP seems more the rah-rah pat on the back kind of guy. I think both can reverse fields and use the opposite strategy when they deem it appropriate, but I think their general first-choice approach is polar opposite.

You could go case by case but IMHO and listening closely I am inclined to believe that this improvement both skill wise, physically and mentally is attributable to the new staff. The motivation is from them and the confidence is from them. The kid did the work but the inspiration is courtesy of the current regime

Why was he taken out of the rotation so early last nite? I know he picked up two quick fouls but I don't remember seeing him at all in the 2nd half. Stat line shows he only logged 7 minutes.
