Heading down to Athens soon for season opener. Remember being in the convo for last year''s opener v. N. Iowa I believe and first look at Mo. If I remember correctly, Mo hit 3 or 4 3-pointers and my son and came away thinking we had a 6-9 3-point shooter. I don't believe he showed that the rest of the year.

This has been in my head since I clicked the link. I'm very disappointed this conversation has been about linguistics & city populations (with so many first names mentioned, & not discussing the validity of the videos statements about how Appalachian is "hot hot hot!"

As often been stated on here, any publicity is good publicity.

Still just the one camera show, but the video quality was tremendously improved and didn't buffer on me once the entire game. Don't know if Stretch upped their game or we're paying them more, but either way, big improvement.

I've been quick to criticize the video feed in the past so let me be equally quick to give praise where praise is due. Video quality looked great, no weird angles or insane close ups, and no missed action. Well done.

With that being said, have you all had a chance to check out the 3 MAC teams that got upgraded by ESPN this year? I am beyond excited after seeing Buffalo on friday night and NIU playing live right now, I can't wait until we get the upgrade, its going to be awesome. The production value is miles ahead of STO or TWC or whoever the regional producers have been. Can't wait.

* Wadley is early leader for MAC most improved player. Impressed with him taking his man off the dribble from beyond the 3-point line, all the way to the basket. Needs to finish, tho. Also hit a corner 3, with Ohio's other 3 bigs (Mo, Campbell, Treg) also hitting a 3. Most impressed with Ryan Taylor. Love how he backs his defender down and then quick turnaround jumper in the lane with smooth touch.

* Went big at times with Treg replacing Stevie, putting 6-4, 6-4, 6-8, 6-9, 6-9 (or there abouts) on the floor at the same time.

* Thought Mo and Stevie tried to do too much at times. Rather see them not force things and trust their teammates.

* I think SBH, not in attendance today, isn't going to be too happy with cheerleaders stationed directly behind his black seats.

* Still get a kick out of how many Ohio fans are sheep and need an announcer to tell them how to be fans, when to stand, when it's OK to sit.

* Had pre-game lunch at BW3 with family. I think I embarrassed family by trying to outcheer osu fans although outnumbered something like 60-1. Had fun nevertheless.

Here are my thoughts (really missing the bullet point functionality, Ryan Carey):

- Setting aside the extremely bizarre -2.5 line that opened and did not last long, even the -12.5 line that it settled on was the biggest steal of a line I have ever seen. Appy State is not a good team, and we generally cruise at home against weaker OOC teams (if you mention Winthrop, I'll sock you).
- The game could have been MUCH worse as we missed a ton of easy jumpers that rattled out, and had some butterfingers today as well. We could have easily doubled them up.
- 12 assists to 12 turnovers was the weak spot as a team. We had several assertive drives to the basket that are good to see but I am guessing Saul wants to see more ball movement than we saw today.
- We had a good game despite pretty weak games from Ndour and Stevie, and Bean sitting the bench. That is VERY encouraging, because you know those 3 guys will be fine in the long run.
- Ryan Taylor, my goodness what a game. Calm and smooth out there for his first collegiate game. Seems like the type to fearlessly put up shots when he has the look but also recognize when he doesn't have the look. And can run the point no problem. He may end up with may more minutes than any of us envisioned.
- Did anyone else notice an awkward looking walk/run to Ryan? He almost looked injured at times. Nothing concerning at all, I think just a harmless look he has about him. It is almost like it makes him appear to be unathletic when he is in fact completely athletic and smooth. Maybe I'm just crazy.
- Mike Laster of course also looked impressive, though I think he saw the bulk of the minutes that would have went to Bean. Again, great composure for a true freshman. VERY excited about Ryan and Mike!
- Treg Setty 4 fouls in 12 minutes...Some things never change. I continue to believe his role on this team will be almost identical to last year, namely due to his propensity to foul. Don't get me wrong he is a nice piece off the bench, I just never bought him as being a starter who plays major minutes.
- Wadley WAY improved. Seemed to have slimmed down and become more athletic and assertive. Once Tony is 100%, adding an improved Wadley to Maurice and Tony once he is 100% is quite a force.
- I know C Thomas is still not eligible due to a technicality, but I still don't think he sees the regular rotation without a significant injury. I feel bad making the judgment without ever seeing him suit up for the Bobcats, but I just don't see it. Went 8 deep today, will be 9 with Bean.
- Harley to be determined, wanted to see more of him down the stretch considering Laster & R Taylor we over 35 minutes.

I am very excited to see how this team does at Florida Gulf Coast...Who by the way looked like crap against a D2 team today.

Only caught part of the second half but I was really impressed with the effort. Not a lot of bad shots and there was a lot of energy.

Was Ryan's 21 the most ever by an Ohio frosh in his first game?

Didn't recognize Wadley. The couple times I saw him last year he seemed clumsy. Not today.

Yeah, Appy isn't that good. Russ and Rob mentioned that they're recruiting isn't helped a lot by their image as mostly a football school and the fact that NC has something like 23 D1 b-ball schools. Lots of competition out there. Still, a 26-pt win is at least to be expected, and maybe moreso, against a team like that.

Very impressed with the video feed. Looked like HD quality on my computer and there was no milky glare at midcourt.

Wish Stretch would get the audio cranked up. Had to put my computer's volume level on high just to get a decent level. And why does Rob sound so much clearer that Russ?

Yes, we need to get bulleting back. And emoticons. And highlighting. And the ability to insert images and to insert hyperlinks on words.

Maybe try faking your user agent to appear as an iOS device? That should make it send you .mp4 instead of Flash video.

Decent crowd, but boy was it dead! Understandable with it being a weak OOC game, but even the OZONE was lacking energy. Ryan Taylor was unreal.. Quickly making himself my favorite Bobcat (sorry Stevie).. He's going to be fun to watch for years to come. LOVED the halftime entertainment.. Gave me serious cold chills to see the crowd (and the OZONE) getting behind these special men and women... Looked like they were having a blast out there.

Overall, decent game by the Cats.. Would like to see Ndour get a little more involved, but it'll come. He was having a hard time creating his own shot yesterday. He's gonna need to be stronger at this bc teams are going to key in on him this year. He won't be a secret..

Didn't think it was dead.

When Mo improves passing effectiveness out of all the hacking, double teams, etc, it will help him create his,? shot or get in position to receive a pass.

I apologize for the typos. I'm having to do all my posting by Android since I'm in Iceland serving as OCFs personal valet and assistant for arranging daily shuttle service.

App State is pretty miserable, but we did what you want to do against those teams: Put them away. So that's encouraging. I don't think FGCU is going to be any good this year, but I am anxious to see how this group does on the road.

I enjoyed listening to that, beyond just the fact that Saul is awesome to listen to. Some very interesting points were made about the game and this team.

I've seen crazier things happen.

What's not to love about his enthusiasm? Saul's demeanor is showing through in the way a couple guys played Saturday, particularly Wadly.
