But I'm not exactly sure why: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/117...

Well it was more than just Bo - and it appears to be a common NCAA combination of issues - $'s and integrity

Does he go back to the MAC? Since he hates the OZONE, can OHIO request that he can not officiate in the CONVO? He is the only ref I know by name, that is not a good thing.

Hate to see this happen. Hope he can get things reconciled and get back on track.

Actually I think that Bo would not be allowed to officiate in the MAC as the MAC is part of the MAC/BIG TEN consortium for official scheduling. In fact I believe that several other smaller conferences are part of that consortium. This means he would have trouble finding jobs in the Midwest. He will lose a great deal of income this season.

Other than the possibility of seeing what other refs were paid (which he denied doing) I couldn't figure out what the problem was either. Not sure what harm seeing your assignments ahead of time does.

Yeah, I feel like we're missing something. It has to be more than, "You found out your work schedule! PAY THE PRICE!"

If you or I used a login we weren't supposed to have to get into a boss's computer, we'd be in trouble, even if we weren't looking at confidential information. It's a matter of trust.

I didn't read the link. But if it is about using someone else's computer ID/pw, then that is a BIG violation.

Watch the video on the ESPN page. Goodman explained it very well.

I won't even try to restate what he said. My post would be more confusing than that article.

Either way.

Good point but these guys are independent contractors not employees. Probably shouldn't have done it but i think all of us would be curious about three things - 1) our future assignments, 2) what everyone else is getting paid and 3) what the coaches are saying about us. Given the ability to find those things out and with the keys to the candy store in our hands, I'm betting lots of folks would have turned the handle and stepped inside.

They all also sound like items that could indicate potential susceptibility to corruption - more than one way to get money in sports or sports officiating. Maybe the policy is there as a safe guard for prevention of that.

The biggie that Goodman mentioned was access to comments made about them by coaches. Knowing what coaches think about them could affect their game-calling. And if coaches know that the refs have access to their comments, they might not be willing to give feedback. It compromised the integrity of the website.

Integrity is a biggie for me (involves being able to see all sides of an argument and how reality integrates with those sides...uh, oh, deadhorse) so not much pity for those given responsibility--calling our games--but who can't adhere to basic, easy don't-poop-it guidelines.

Dude can look in the mirror and find who to blame.
