Not sure what's worse, the NCAA ruling on this or the school that reported it.

As long as it's Auriemma, that gets slapped, it's OK by me.

It does seem silly on the surface, but he knew what he was doing. She is also a very good hooper and he was planting a seed for down the road.

This is like choosing between scurvy and gout.

Mike & Mike were talking about this last week and I have to agree with their take. NCAA violation or not, if I am Mo'ne's dad, I would much rather her play for UConn and the coach who made an effort to call her (if she eventually gets an offer) than the anonymous whistle blower.

Call me a cynic, but I've heard enough stories about Geno over the years that I can't help but wonder if he's the one who reported it so that he could get the attention. It serves every purpose. Makes him look good, makes NCAA rules look bad, gets him in on the ground floor with Mo'ne and makes sure she remembers him. I have a hard time imagining another coach legitimately blowing the whistle on him over this.

Some of you just like the fact he flouted the rules and got an advantage.

And you don't think Geno knows that? He damn well knew that the call was against the rules and now he gets to play the victim. And why didn't he call the Chicago Little League team that made the finals and congratulate them?

I'm no defender of Geno, but the reason he called her is because she mentioned in an interview that she'd love to play basketball at UConn. If I'm the other baseball players, why would I want a women's college basketball coach calling me?

That's not the point. The point is he knew he wasn't allowed to do it and he did it anyway. The fact that she mentioned that she wanted to play basketball at UConn makes it even worse. There is no hiding that it was a blatant recruiting call.

So why would you want him to call the other players?
