Van..and others:  I don't think there's that much risk here.  That's based on the thought that others who've had problems here and elsewhere (Anrio, Abreu, etc) seem to have histories, which appears not to be the case here.

Of course, we've no idea of the specifics of the Izzo send-off--but I'm assuming that was more a personality clash than about serious rules violations...which does not seem to be an unreasonable assumption.

Between trusting Captain Phillips judgment and the potential upside, I think that we're on reasonable ground here.

Beside that he can shoot, can anyone tell me about KK's defense and rebounding and court sense?

How can you assume that? Reading Izzo's statement, it's obvious this wasn't just a matter of coach not liking Kaminski.

He was suspended on two separate occasions last year and then ultimately booted.  That means there are at least three incidents that we know of.  Not sure how many incidents you have to compile before it becomes a history.

I'm not judging the kid because it's not my job to judge him.  For all I know the things he did to get himself suspended were activities I did a lot in Athens back in the day.   And even though I'm worried about bringing in a kid with this kind of baggage I'm also excited by it.  Not knowing anything but what I've read I think it's a risk worth taking but it is a risk.

OUVan nailed it. High achievers take risks - calculated risks - and I see SP as a high achiever. These kind of players that do end up in the MAC can be program changers - we have seen that. Or - they can be dregs - we have seen that too. Have to aim high - worse that can happen really is it does not pan out as we hoped - and that happens with a few recruits every year anyway...............

I may have missed the answer to this question elsewhere, but is Kaminzki eligible this year? I'm fully aware of players needing to sit out a year when they transfer but I heard he was applying for immediate eligibility. Any word?

No answer yet. See the Kenny Kaminski thread in the basketball recruiting section.

I was at yesterday's practice and saw him with a boot on his left foot.
After seeing this and with the waver in doubt he will probably not play this year.

Players get put in a boot as precaution all the time.

Thinking the same thing. Decompression boots are really quite common these days. Hard to assume it is a serious issue just off seeing a guy in a boot.

Now the likelyhood of the waiver is certainly debatable.

I've seen crazier things happen.
