I am happy I am not one of the two bidders on this item.  I am sure the seller appreciates advertisement.

I won the auction. I knew several of the guys on this team in a casual way. May have to wear this thing a few days.

It's sad that somebody would sell that ring. The sentiment is worth far more than a few hundred dollars.

Which ones were they? I intend to get it back to the Convo some way. Or get it back to whom it was stolen from.

Somebody stole some Labatt Blue from my roommate's fridge over my years at Ohio. If located, please donate to current Bobcat students in lieu of return. thanks

disclaimer: in no way should this be viewed as an endorsement of Canadian beer by myself, my roommates, the thiefs or anyone who locates this lost property. thanks again

I've seen crazier things happen.

Agreed but according to the official team photo from that year, that is not a player's or coach's ring.  It says WDR inside the band and no one on the team has those initials.  The company that I work for made the ring - Balfour.  You can tell that from the LGB Sterling imprinted inside the band.

WDR...I'd have to guess that's William D. Rohr, the AD. Same guy who's name is on the Rohr Room. He was AD throughout most of the 60's and 70's. A shame that it's his ring being sold - maybe his children trying to make some $$? Who knows...

If I can verify this, I will donate it to be displayed in the Rohr room of the athletic dept wants it. He was a great AD, was a NW guy I believe and scheduled the Big Ten and top teams in many sports. Those were the " Best Ever" years for Ohio Athletics, IMHO.

Well, I got the ring today and I've got to say that while it brings back memories, Bill Rohr had to have really small fingers.  It fits on my pinkie and that's it.

Contact made, but sometimes it's hard even to give something away. We'll see what happens.

Oh, that's okay. I'd like to find a nice home for it.

Can't wait to see it.  I'll check with our folks to see who the first owner was once I've had a chance to check it out.  A video enhanced image of that ring could be a great addition to the pregame videos.
