Could someone post a link to this letter?  I've found articles about it, but not a complete text of the letter.  Though I'm not a big NBA fan, as I tend to stick to college sports, I'm glad that LJ is back in Cleveland, as long as he doesn't help his old high school coach recruit players to a certain Ohio rival with a questionable reputation.

How many of you believe (he) actually wrote that letter?  Just curious!  I'm not from Ne Ohio, so I don't have all this love for him.  Honestly, I got tired of his dog and pony show watching him at the H.S. State Tournament not that long ago!

I'd say that he had a lot of excellent professional help with that letter. I don't think that means anyone should be cynical about it. I truly believe that it reflects his sincere feelings, whether he penned it himself or not. I do a lot of ghostwriting for a living, but I do it to help my clients deliver the message that they want to deliver, and those clients pay close attention to the finished product. My guess is that he got some advice on how to handle the situation, chose to do a letter, and got some very competent assistance in executing it.

Agreed.  And who else thought it was rather symbolic that he chose a letter to announce this decision after Dan Gilbert's infamous letter after his departure from Cleveland?

Are you disgusted presidents don't extemporaneously write their State of the Union speeches on the back of cocktail napkins? I've never bought the story that Lincoln composed the Gettysburg address in a train or that Kennedy penned Profiles in Courage By himself. That doesn't diminish their power. In fact, I'd judge them lesser works if they only contained the thoughts of one man rather than a consensus of a group of smart people.

Good communication often requires thought, planning and a little help.

The alternative is Dan Gilbert's Comic Sans Logic Screed. THAT I believe was the work of a solitary man...who was 13 drinks into a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

And, for good reason, that's a totally discredited story.  Lincoln did write the address, with almost no assistance from anyone else, but he wrote it in the White House before he left for Gettysburg.  There are several copies extant of his various drafts, showing editing and changes he made before he made the address.

Well - without evidence produced to the contrary (good luck with that) - I suppose there is a "Delete Pending"

We need a new poster named "Accept Revision."

Perhaps I am having a brain-freeze.  Don't I recall numerous posts where you called out Lebron for giving up in the playoffs? For quitting?   Now you rush to post of his return.  Hmmm.  Maybe my memory is off.

Your memory is not off. He trashed him for leaving almost as much as the Cavs' owner did. And he also said the Cavs shouldn't have drafted him initially.

Repeatedly.  For years.  Venomously.  So much so that when I heard the LBJ news, Monroe was one of the first people I thought of.  I'm pretty sure 1,000 of his 5,000 posts had a "game 5 he quit' reference.  I was pretty surprised to see this thread from Monroe.

Oh, it's just worth baiting a post with a Civil War reference every once in a while so I can read the response in the voice of Lee Trevino.

Gotta think it's a bit creepy that some wait for my posts so they can jump on.  hashtaggettalife

LeBron wrote a wonderfully eloquent letter in which he admitted that didn't realize the magnitude of the effect of his leaving.  Many in the Cleve clearly felt that.  As I did.  But now we welcome him back.  I'd love for him to bring a banner to town.  But more important than that is that he returned.

To those who don't like my views:  Maybe.  Or maybe prescience.  Who first recognized the K word, that change was definitely needed.  Who led the charge saying most of the last 20 games in football were bad.  Took a lot of heat for that.  But no one's said boo when several columnists in their previews for football this year used works such as 'disastrous' for that stretch.     Really think that killing the messenger while you miss the message is helping anyone?
