Has anyone heard a status lately on Ric's appeal?  I'm sure a final answer, one way or the other, has to come sometime soon (if not already).

The NCAA doesn't know the meaning of the word soon. He may not know until July or August if he has another year.

And this is why the NCAA has become a joke in certain regards.  A kid can miss a game for having a "booster" buy him dinner, and they rule on that with all kinds of haste.  A kid wants to get a year back because of injury and they can't get a decision made?

I can think of a few times they moved swiftly in the not-so-distant past (OSU Tattoo-Gate, Jameis Winston), but those were things that had to be decided quickly.  I mean, those decisions could have cost the NCAA $$$, and we all know if there's one thing the NCAA loves, it's mone...I mean looking out for the well-being of student athletes.

Is there any precedent at all for the NCAA approving something like this?

I want to be optimistic but I always assumed the 35% (or whatever the rule is) didn't leave much room for interpretation. Ric graduating can't hurt, right? Or can it?

Man the NCAA is a joke.

I've seen crazier things happen.

From Ted's recap of Coach Phillips remarks at the Dayton caravan stop last night.

Ricardo Johnson is done playing. They are exploring overseas opportunities for him. Applied for Marketing job at North Dakota State.

I'm disappointed. However, I think this information tells is a lot about the character of our new coach. It sounds like he is helping our players, even though they never played for him.

I had this same thought exactly. I'm sure JG and JC would do the same thing, but this is a great public example of coaches using connections to help players succeed after they hang up the high tops.

Too bad Ric didn't get one last hurrah because if there's anyone who deserves it, it's him.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

I think it probably says a lot about Ricardo as well.

So who makes the final call on these medical hardship decisions? Is it the NCAA, which was referred to in this thread for Ricardo? Or is it the conference, which this report cites?

If it is up to the conference, why wouldn't the MAC have granted the hardship waiver?

I think it went something like this "The Atlantic Coast Conference...errrr...the Syndicate...errr...the NCAA has approved the waiver."

When I saw this thread, I assumed it was an update on Rico's post-Ohio career status (I believe he is coaching) then I saw the first post and realized this thread was about his extra-year. I instantly wondered if the NCAA finally approved his extra-year of eligibility.

That scenario would be absurd, which is exactly what I would expect from the NCAA.

I thought Ricardo had a shot, I really think KK has a shot. I don't see how the NCAA could decline Kaminski's appeal, but I really have no faith in the NCAA so......

I have little faith that KK will get a waiver, though it would seem to me that he would deserve it.
