Is this right? Are there more "coaching" slots available?

I hope Fuss gets the last true assistant gig. Did he mention anything about his staff in the press conference?

Any chance Nick Kellogg wants to come back to OU for grad school?? :)

Players play until they can't then maybe they coach.

Unless they really want to coach. Dante Jackson could have played overseas and he went straight into coaching at Ohio after playing at Xavier.

Players play as long as they want to and as long as someone wants them.  Then, maybe they coach.  I gotta believe Nic will be in demand in Europe.  Question is does he want to play there?

I don't think Nick would be going to the Portsmouth Invitational if he didn't plan on playing ball somewhere at the next level.

I think Nick has a chance at the NBA D-League..he doesnt need to jump to the money overseas. I really think he plays like Derek Fisher and Portsmouth and summer league will be huge for him.

From speaking with the staff the other night I believe that the G.A. spots and DOBO spot have all been filled. Sounds like the third assistant is the only position that they are actively pursuing candidates for.

I like Aaron Fuss. A lot. And I think he has an extremely promising career ahead of him.

I'm not fond of setting him loose. Or Coach Wu and other Christian staffers that don't yet know their future.

But I wonder which is better: Keeping an assistant on staff for familiarity and continuity, or having a whole new staff and essentially forcing a new coach/player relationship?

The DOBO, Chip, is definitely on his way to BC with Christian. As far as Coach Wu I believe he will also find his way out East. Fuss is another story. Plenty of oppotunities out there but being at OU for 6 years gives him not only previous relationships with the reutrning players but also an advantage in the recrutiting circles with his familiarity of campus, programs, athletics, etc. Same situation that Rhodes was in when Groce came to campus. Hard to say is Phillips will go the same route that Groce did and bring in all new staff. Time will tell.

I think it's already been told.  Phillips said "Obviously our first 2 hires (Ryan & Kemp) tipped our hand in which direction we will go with the 3rd."  I don't see how that could possibly end in Fuss being kept.

Fuss has a lot of contacts from the various coaching trees he has been involved with, so I'm sure he will end up just fine, but it is a bummer.  Also, it is worth mentioning that I believe Fuss was the primary recruiter of our prized underclassman Tony Campbell.

One thing JC said in his presser stuck out to me and that is his need to have someone in his staff who has recruited New England. I would think that we need the someone here who has recruited Ohio as well.

No way that Gary Trent on the staff could be a negative. Only question is how much of a positive it could be.

Fuss was the best assistant on Christian's staff. Very happy he's staying.
