oh good, I get to update my Rio Adams: world traveler timeline.


08-09 Freshman, Franklin High School with Peyton Siva of Lville. Wins state title.
09-10 Sophomore, Franklin High School. Team's leading scorer.
10-11 Junior, Franklin High School. Kicked off team early in season (effort). Attempts to transfer to South Kent HS in Connecticut, doesn't go (academics). Transfers to Garfield HS in Seattle to finish year.
Summer 2011- Transfers to St. Patrick HS in NJ, enrolls in summer classes, practices with team. Leaves before fall classes begin.
11-12 Senior, transfers to Ranier Beach HS in Seattle.

12-13 Freshman, University of Kansas
April 2013 Announces transfer from Kansas. Days later announces not transferring. Days later announces transfer closer to home.
June 16th 2013- Transfers to Ohio
August 28th 2013- Transfers from Ohio
Fall 2013- Enrolls at Odessa Junior College
January 16th, 2014- plays last game for Odessa (midseason)
February 4th, 2014- Announcement from Odessa that Rio is no longer on team.
March 2014- Rumored signing with Auburn.

If Rio signs with Auburn it will be his 4th college in less than 12 months. Going back to high school Auburn will be the 9th school he has committed to in the past 3.5 years.

I really don't understand how a guy like that can jump around so much at the high school level. Do these states not have a residency rule? I'm pretty sure in Ohio you have to live with a relative in the school district in order to transfer to a particular school. Unless these were all private schools. Seems like a huge waste of time and money traveling back and forth.

It depends on the school district in question and what open enrollment policies the district has adopted. Some districts say bordering districts only, while others allow OE to/from any district.

Also, the OHSAA just reduced it so that players have to sit out only half a year. They don't have to sit out at all if they can prove the move wasn't made for athletic reasons.

Rio gets a mention in Arkley's latest article-

"One final note: I didn’t see every summer workout last year, but early returns on 2014 are better in regards to chemistry. The Rio Adams experience grated on a lot of players’ nerves last summer, but it’s been nothing but positive with introduction of all the new faces this month."

according to his twitter account he appears to be back home and not enrolled in a school.

He's trying to set a record for being associated for the most high school and college basketball teams. I wonder at what point his baggage outweighs his talent for absolutely everyone and no one on any level wants him. I also am not real clear on why he so quickly fails to work out everywhere he goes.
