It appears that the coaches have been busy this past spring replacing players at positions where there were possible issue i.e. kicker, TE etc.
Good to see we have Plan B's in place and we are not being complacent.

With Roback gone Talbert at TE is a nice get.   OkSt.'s Green at kicker may be the guy to replace Weller.  Losing Hammond at WR shouldn't hurt with excellent true freshmen comin in.

Monroe should be happy with this one.....Hammonds loss at RB opens it up for Tim Edmond to move to RB.....Monroe's Big Manz per Arkley:

Junior Tim Edmond has also switched positions. The 5-11, 237 product from Cincinnati, was on the 2012 roster as a middle linebacker, and appeared in all 13 games — mostly on special teams. In the spring, Edmond moved to tight end.

But with Hammonds departure, Edmond has been moved to running back. He'll give the Ohio backfield a blocking option in two-back sets or as an H-back in some looks.

Green definitely appeared to have the best leg at the spring game. This makes me feel much better about the kicker situation.

Edmond to RB may have been born of necessity, but I really like the move independent of that. We need something other than the pistol-based QB sneak for short yardage power runs, and our goal line running game has been less-than-adequate without a lead blocker.

Phil Steele thinks every unit for the Bobcats should be at least as good as last season even defensive line where he trusts the reputation of the Ohio staff to pull it together when required. He has our improved positions at RB, DB and Special Teams which he considered having an off year in 2012. Has the Bobcats possibly topping 9 wins and #50 overall but is more bullish on Marshall's chances this year which I think is a mistake because their players never live up to the recruiting hype. That program has lost its clutch play ability of the 90's. Every Ohio Unit is at least in the top 7 of the MAC (coaching #1, QB, RB, DB #2).

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

AS we search for Weller's replacement...rumors are that Matt Amicone, Weller's back-up last year is healthy and at about 5-6/5-7, 180lbs(acc, to what roster you look at)it appears the red shirt Frosh is the most consistant over the last week of the spring and thru the first month of Summer. Amicon was 25/25, Yasdani 20/25 and Green was 17/25 last week at a training session in Columbus. Green's long but not real consistant, Amicone real consistant and money from 47 in and Josiah is hot and cold as he was his first year in camp. Solich first interview in the Spring said he was "looking for consistancy and athleticism as well as a leader". Long way to go but, no pun intended......looks like the "long (Green 6'3/6'4 235....Amicone 5'6/5'7 abuck 80) and short" of it may rule the new turf this fall.

Roback's chronic back injury simply wouldn't heal and he basically had to give up football.

Let us not go without thanking DEREK ROBACK.  He's an O H I O guy who was a solid player.

TD grab in the Potatoes was totally huge.

It's great that they got the full Fall Roster up early this year, complete with real heights and weights. Kudos to the staff for a job well done. As usual, many walkons are gone, and new ones are here to give it their best shot. There are also some subtractions due to injury, and late additions: Here's what I see:
Gone:
Dayne Hammond - WR
Kyle Hammonds - RB
Derek Roback - TE (injury)
Tyree Graves - DE (No show from recruiting class)
Bryce Dietz - OT (injury)
Tate Leavitt - OT (No show from recruiting class)
Paul Nostrant - OL
Caleb Russell - RB
Dontray Crawford - WR
Paul Wilks - Ath
Brian Hairston - CB
Mitchell Rider - LB
Storm Timson - LB
Chad Moore - LB
Alex Kennedy - LB
Chris Owens - DE
Matt Ringle - P

Additions not in the normal recruiting class, many of whom were expected and have been discussed.
Zach Adams - OL preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Anthony Talbert - TE Senior addition, formerly from NC State
Alex Asher - TE Senior addition to team, formerly from UNC
Devin Saunders - TE
Dylan Leffingwell - QB preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Jake Johnson - WR preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Jerrid Marhefka - WRpreferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Skylar Schwarzel - WR All-SE Ohio player from The Plains.
Randy Stites - WR played one year as a DB for Lindsey Wilson College
Shawn Harris - CB preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Travis Daugherty - LB
Davon Donovan - LB
Zane Summers - LB
Cody Grillot - LB preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread
Garrett Alcorn - DE preferred walkon - link is to bobcatattack thread

FYI:  Athens grad Zane Summers' father John played LB for the 'Cats back in the day.  Nice to see he made the squad; he definitely showed some hustle in the Spring game.

((Of course, his dad John has put on lb's since his playing days......add the grins.))

That's great news.

That will be Storm Timson's 2nd time leaving the program if I'm not mistaken.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

Deleted after hearing through PM, that I was mistaken, and I'm glad to hear that John has a boy on the team.

Life as a walkon isn't always easy. At this point, he'd be a fifth year Senior. Hopefully he's earned his degree, and who knows, maybe he will join us here.
