ESPN's Outside the Lines analyzed each college football program as far as how much money was spent and where it came from. Not surprisingly, it shows a huge disparity between P5 and G5 schools. Here's some info on Ohio for 2015:
Income Ticket sales: $1,220,176 (91st of 105 public schools, 6th in the MAC) Student subsidies: $16,354,881 (5th of 105 public schools, 1st in MAC) Guarantee games: $700,000 (58th public, 9th in MAC) Contributions: $3,048,381 (80th public, 1st in MAC) Direct state government support: $0 (only 20 schools get this, none from MAC) University subsidy: $0 (only 24 public schools get none, only school in MAC to get $0) NCAA money: $1,432,623 (56th public, 5th in MAC, not sure what this is but it seems kind of random with big and little schools all over in rankings) Conference money: $961,000 (88th public, 6th in MAC) Media rights: $2,758 (83rd public, 8th in MAC) Endowment: $156,586 (64th public, 5th in MAC) Total operating revenue: $28,709,413 (86th overall among all 125, private included, in this category, 6th in MAC)
Expenses Student athlete scholarships: $7,214,118 (90th among all 125 schools, 8th in MAC) Money from away games: $844,000 (69th among 105 public, 3rd in MAC) Coaches salaries and benefits: $5,328,810, 86th public, 8th in MAC) Support staff salaries and benefits: $2,874,698, 98th public, 12th in MAC) Severance payments: $0 (41 schools have none, including 9 from MAC) Recruiting: $554,948 (78th public, 5th in MAC) Team travel: $1,775,672 (122nd, 11th in MAC) Equipment and uniforms: $753,475 (92nd, 11th in MAC) Game expenses: $316563 (105th of 105, 12th in MAC) Medical expenses and insurance: $668,971 (66th public, 3rd in MAC) Total operating expenses: $27,110,443 (111th overall among all, 9th in MAC)
Net revenue (minus subsidies): $-14,755,911 (67th among 105 public, 2nd in MAC, only BG had a smaller loss) |

Contributions, #1 in MAC. Are contributions to facilities included? Coaches salaries/benefits, 8th in MAC. Ohio getting a lot of bang for their $$$. Games expenses, (105th of 105, 12th in MAC), what are these? |

RE: game expenses...first thought in my head was how much we spend to have non-conf opponents visit Peden?
