Ohio downs Miami 38-29

Ohio scored 31 second-half points in a 38-29 win over Miami at Peden Stadium Saturday afternoon. Facing a 17-7 halftime deficit, the Bobcats (6-6, 4-4 MAC) scored on the opening posession of the second half with a Brad Bower 2-yard plunge. After a Taj Henley interception, Ohio took the lead on a Kalvin McRae 1-yard run. The 'Cats then wasted no time in turning a Michael Brown interception into points. Bower connected with Andrew Mooney on a 17-yard TD strike. In just 6:02 of third quarter play, Ohio had put up 21 points.

Miami (6-6, 5-2) cut the Ohio lead to 28-26 with 7:23 to play before Josh Abrams turned in the key play of the game. He returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown to put the Bobcats up 35-26. Miami returned the ensuing kickoff to the Ohio three but came away with only a field goal. Michael Braunstein sealed the win with a 40-yard field goal that put Ohio up 38-29 with 2:26 left.

The Ohio defense kept Miami out of the endzone in the second half limiting the RedHawks to four Nathan Parseghian field goals. Kalvin McRae finished with 112 yards on 24 carries. He passed Kareem Wilson on the all-time carries list and tied Wilson for the career touchdown mark with 49. The win marks the first time Ohio has posted consecutive wins over Miami since the 1983-84 season.
