Kaminski's 31 points lead Bobcats to 93-69 win

Campbell and Simmons both have double-doubles


ATHENS – Kenny Kaminski hit eight 3-pointers and scored 31 points as Ohio ran away from Ohio Dominican in the second half in a 93-69 victory Tuesday night at The Convo.

Antonio Campbell (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Jaaron Simmons (10 points, 10 assists) both had double-doubles, and Jordan Dartis finished with 15 points for the Bobcats (6-3).

Trent Weaver paced the Panthers (3-7) with 18 points and six rebounds, and Michael Simon went 4 of 7 from long range and also had 18 points.

Division II Ohio Dominican hung close into the second half, trailing just 44-37 after a Chad Nelson 3-pointer at the 17:45 mark before Ohio asserted itself with a 10-1 run in the next two and a half minutes to push its advantage to 16.

The Panthers were within 12 at 70-58 with 7:07 remaining but ran out of gas after that with the Bobcats outscoring them 23-11 the rest of the way.

An 8-0 run in the first half pushed Ohio’s lead from one to 22-13, and the Bobcats led 40-32 at halftime.

Kaminski made 8 of 11 3-pointers and 9 of 14 shots overall and added four rebounds. As a team, the Bobcats were 11 of 21 from 3-point range and shot 52.9 percent. They also were 28 of 32 at the foul line.

The Panthers shot just 40.7 percent, including 10 of 30 on treys, and were 11 of 14 on free throws.

Each team had just six turnovers.

Ohio hosts Jackson State at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Convo.
